This seems like a realy oversight by Keis. Why does their new jackets run at 5.5 amps. That seems so restrictive. It means it cant be used with almost all battery packs nor can it be used via BMW DIN sockets.

It seems like a real oversight to me but I wondered if anyone had any more knowledge on their decision to go down that route? Surely that put's them at a disadvantage against their competitors.

Caveat: Just to say the other half has a Keis and she totally loves it. I'm tempted to purchase one but the thing that holds me back is that I ride other BMW bikes that are not my own so putting a dedicated power lead from the battery is not really an option and as I cant use a battery pack that essentially makes it an expensive mid-layer jacket that I can otherwise buy for 50 quid without a heating element.

My rider's manual says "max 12 A, Total for all sockets" :D

No problem with my Keis jacket and gloves....

All the heated jackets I've seen that run on batteries restrict the heated areas when doing so to lower the amps drawn. Pretty sure my Keis does.

Anyway, better wired to a fused flying lead direct to the battery IMO.

I believe the older style jackets and gillets run at 5 amp so I'd expect them to work. It just seems to be the newer 'premium' range that run at 5.5 amp.

I have a Keis waistcoat and when I was riding in the middle of winter in shitty weather, it made my life so much happier.
