Anyone tried these?

There is a good ebay deal atm from Oxford BMW, and I'm interested as I'm planning to do an IBA event next year.

On my second winter now. It's always been good for me, with heat panels on the chest and lower back pushuing out a reasonable amount of heat. I never needed the highest setting on the temperature controller last year

There was one drawback with last years models, and that was the leads on teh controller; when subjected to veryu cold temperatures the insulation tends to harden and become quite brittle. Forget you are plugged in on freezing nighy and you could snap the cable. To avoid that problem this year, I bought the battery pack and charger from MandP when they had them up for the wrong price ( £29.99 ins.tead of £44.99 ). This also means I can use when skiing, diving, in the garden etc . Allegedly, battery life is 7 hours at the lowest temperature and 3 at full bore. I have had no reason so far to think those figure are wildly optimistic.

I see from Motohaus Motohaus that they have a new model of the the controller this year. Maybe that addresses last year's problems:nenau My guess is thateh EBay ones use the older controller.

Motohaus have acurrent offer of a free controller with each vest ( £89.99)

Bought a Keis today. Had a run-out before realising I needed to charge it first.

Charged it, but the remote fob doesn't seem to work.

I'll get the hang of it,I'm sure :blast

The Keis gets my vote as well, toasty warm on number 2 setting and lasts around 6 hours on the battery pack

Obviously only wear a very thin shirt under it though to get max warmth!!

Not sure what you have got connected there ?

Nwe, the Keis is currently being shipped with controller, bit like a ermot fob. One end of it plugs inot the lead coming out the inside pocket of teh vest, the other end plugs into the bikes 12V 'lectrics. The supplied lead fits a standard ciggie lighter socket, so needs replacing with one suitable for the BMUU sockets.

IIRC correctly the "remore fob" has a button for on, a button for off, a button to increase the heat and a button to lower the heat. Press and hold the On button for 2-3 seconds to make it work. Same for the Off button.

If you have the battery pack, it does not use teh remote fob. The battery pack has 2 buttons. One for On, the heat up, one for Off and heat down. Same again press and hold for 2-3 secs. In addition, the battery pack has an inbuilt LED torch. That is turned on and off by the same buttons, which you hold for longer before releasing. If you have the remote fob connecetd between the battery pack and the vest it may not work ...

Didn't like the Keiss, the heat panels are the same IR emitting ones that I use to heat my snakes' vivariums, and I didn't think they were all that powerful. I bought a Giali heated fleece instead, which uses a wire element and gives much better cover around the body, including collar and forearms. Still use the controller from the Keiss though, can't fault that bit at all.

Mup.

Bought a second hand Keis, wasn't impressed with the fairly small panels of heated material, which didn't seem to get too hot anyway. Prefer my BMW waistcoat thing, despite its profoundly naff connector.

Hardly found the need to use my Keis vest last winter but when I did it was fine.

Bought a set of keis heated boot insoles to prevent very cold feet on long winter rides, found I needed to use the vest controller with them to keep my feet from burning. The combination of heated grips/summer gloves inside a pair of Val.H's handlebar muffs plus warm feet from Keis insoles is luxury when it gets chilly (cheaper and more useful than the vest too).

Anyone know if a Keis controller will work with a Gerbing jacket, and are the connections the same?

Nearly cooked last night with the Gerbing direct to the battery.
