I finally gave up with EXO2 heated gloves. Every other year they have worked, and the ones in between they don't and get replaced by XO2 Customer Services, ready for the next year. Looking aroud on the internet I saw that I was not alone in my experience, so I have given up on EXO2 as a bad job.
This weekend I bit the bullet and bought some Keis X800i gloves. These are, so far, brilliant. They heat up within seconds, and have heat level settings for each glove. Not had a chance to try in them in prolonged heavy rain, but they worked well enough in a brief shower.
So for the few days I have had them I love 'em. It was either Keis or Gerbing. I had prefered Gerbing, but they proved uncontactable. Having left some messages on their answerphone with no reply, I was less than impressed. So Keis it was....
Now for the lows. The heat control is by a soft-touch button on th eback of the cuff, it glows in one of three colours to show what setting it is on. If you need to turn them on you need activate both buttons. If there is any interruption to the power, they turn off and need to be turned back on. Same if there is a very brief power interruption, or the voltage momentarily drops too low. Either of those can happen when starting the engine.
I have now got mine wired directly to the battery, using the Keis harness with in-line fuse, but for some reason the gloves have turned themselves off a few times. Once they do turn themselves off they have to be disconnected from the power feed and reconnected in order to turn them back on, which can be a right pain. I am hoping that this is caused by something like a problem in the harness, or with the second set of battery posts on the Motobatt battery that I have connected to. That could be easily fixed, and not a problem with the gloves - the Motobatt is nigh on 3 years old. First time it happened I had just passed one motorway exit, with 18 miles until the next
Overall thjough I am pleased with them, they seem like a good quality glove. I have not yet had a need to run them at any temperature above the lowest, but the next week should change that.
