*GS Event* Kelso weekend 17 to 19 April

Left at 7am, i skipped brekkie doh :blast

This time i trusted the Nav and ran down the A7 to Carlisle , brigh and sunny but down to 1.5 degrees onsome of the more exposed / shdy sections - ground frost and some white patches on the roads eeks

Then it was the M6 M42 Cov (blast) missed the junction so a meander round Cov to get back to the Mway M40 A34 M27 nd then fuel and home just after 6pm

recovered some files off the innov, lets see if my ""route up is there""

Dang i only have video right to the start of the bloody mountain

But here is a pic and the map

So a single track road, with blind corners eeeks Screenshot 2026-04-19 204620 route.jpgRoute .jpg

Nice to see you and glad you got home OK.
That's the route we took at the end of Moffat run last year .

My first Gser event and i really enjoyed it, great people good laugh, it was good to put faces to names etc thanks for organising. I took the long way home through the lakes, weather was too good not to.

Ive only been to two UKGSer events, (Dent and Portsoy)

Had a great time both times and met some decent guys, sadly i never asked who they were on the forum, so still don't have any face to names LOL
Just a few beers and laughs with someone who had similar interests.

Something to rectify in the future.
We all need to wear badges with our forum names on 🤣

Not sure I've met you ? Although I'm easily forgotten. 😅

Old pal Bob Crawley, lives in Kelso, called yesterday morning for a coffee. One of the smoothest riders I've ever had the joy to follow :thumby:

From the hotel the guys are using, looking across to the Borders Events Centre. My campervan parked in our own field away to the right, behind the large buildings and trees. The event is an agility one and most dogs are Borders and a few cocker/springer spans! They excercise them on the field where I am. Some owners have six or seven dogs and can't keep an eye on them all ... some poo doesn't get picked up :blast

Say what, !!!

I had a great run as far as Pitlochry then it got cold. And now the sun has come out, wish it had done that a while back.

Great weekend, a fair few turned up which is good. Kelso is a nice town and it seemed to work well for our needs.

I may organise something in the summer in a smaller place but also, most likely, another event next April.

Kelso and Moffat both work though Moffat has camping. There’s also Kirkcudbright, not too far off the main road north.

Kirkcudbright is lovely. There's a campsite there too. The town might be a bit busy in the high season though.

Glad everyone enjoyed themselves at the Kelso meet, wish I could have gone.

However I did note one thing that has reached my curiosity level, and that is due to a first meeting for a few, as mentioned knowing who is who can be hard to recall at a busy lunch, just whom I am/was talking or sitting across from. :natter:natter:natter

I had an idea :idea how that can be easily resolved, by way of a badge of honour system.

Basically a decal/sticker that can be attached to panniers, or elsewhere on the bike, or even on the back of a mobile phone, jacket pocket, then used (shhh, placed onto signage/posts as you travel around the globe) as examples.
Looking into how easy it would be to make such decals for this effective method of acknowledging whom the person is across from you in the car park or pub.

I enquired and found a company here In Aberdeen that will happily print off some decals for such use, good quality vinyl paper with easy peel backing, being waterproof wont wash off panniers or mobiles, whichever area is chosen.

All that is required is a file of the badge required i.e. the avatar used on your forum profile would suffice, then send to myself in a pm any interest in this idea, so as not too fill a thread with hundreds of requests.

I can then transfer sent file onto a PDF file suitable for use in Printing to a high standard that will satisfy the very detailed eye cast over it.:mac

Alternative buy yourself a cheap sticky label and attach to that any expensive shirt, leaving behind glue, paste for the missus to fuss over at laundry day. :eh

If this is of any interest, please let me know, and I can reply with details of how it is possible.

Costs are considered low, and as I am using a well known high street Printers, some cost to myself is involved, but I am doing this not for self profit, but for helping tossers with a way of being seen/known at any future meets.
Images below are of some of the avatar HXH I use on this forum, made specially for myself.

Gives you some idea of quality and how it is printed on a good quality sticky backed paper.
P.s. Note that sheet paper is self trim, so as to fit any pannier, bike part, or signpost :green gri
