Kent meetings?

Which ever pub it is (and I looked at that one so everything should be set up i.e. parking, people used to seeing bikers) might be best to stick to a Thursday like all other meets but keep away from last one due to Eynesford peeps.

I might take a ride down there in a couple of days to see what it is like and ask what Thursdays are free.

In fact, does anybody fancy a quick meet up at the pub Saturday AM? Nothing serious (as in drinking) but a quick get together?

It seems that I am the only one who thinks that somewhere like East Peckham is too far. So with that in mind I just want to say,

Please don't change things around on my account, if it suits the majority to meet in the West then go for it. Otherwise decisions will never be made and the East Kent boys will never get anything together.

Cheers,
Mel.

Mel, where abouts are you?
I did suggest a couple of meets to cover those spread throughout Kent.

Although I have suggested West Farleigh, to tell you the truth, I probably won't turn up for the meets as it is too far for me but I am willing to get the ball rolling for you all.
Come on you lot, if you really want a meeting place then start looking and just organise it. If you get in quick then you can chose a place near you.

Meeting place

Canterbury or the ashford area would suit me a lot better but with my working pattern i wouldnt be able to meet that often anyway, Eynsford and west farleigh are'nt that far apart either and i wouldnt have thought much difference in travelling time to either for the tonbridge guys. Does h's cafe still have the weds evening late opening? The roman galley on the thanet way used to have bike meets there, dont know if they still do, as did the bell at st nicholas:nenau Big pub on the crossroads at challock also has large car park, garden, food etc.

Ashford area would be better for me too. But am open to suggestions. I start work early so what would be a lovely ride out to somewhere like west farleigh would be a long drag home at the end of the day.
Matt

I am in Broadstairs and to be honest, anything further than Ashford is a bit of a pain for me. That said, depends when it is.

If we are talking an evening then Wednesdays at Kent Motorcycles (H's cafe) in Barham is certainly good for me and further afield and it becomes a drag getting home.

If we are talking a breakfast meet on a Sat or Sun then I don't care where it is?
As I said earlier though, don't let my situation affect the popular vote.

Been doing a bit of flicking around. No idea what these pubs are like but some suggestions.

Went visiting the pubs today on the link above.

The only one that I would recommend out of the three is the Tickled Trout (ME15 0PE). It is clean and tidy and serves food between 19:00-21:00. A real ale pub. Lots of parking with outside seating.
Good Intent does food but you have to arrange it a couple of days before.
The White House, shall I say, has seen better days.

Those in the SW of Kent then I would recommend The Swan (Wittersham, TN30 7PH). They are a CAMRA pub with lots of awards and the real ales look interesting.
Reasonable parking with outside seating and food up to 21:00.

I have spoken with the landlords and they are OK for meeting there on Thursday evenings. Don't need to book just turn up.

Did not go to East Kent so somebody else will have to do that.
Right, that's me done. Over to you

I'd be up for a meet. I live in Ramsgate, so like Mel I'd be more inclined to attend if the meet was more local to me, but summer is only round the corner, and with more light in the evenings, you never know :)

Also depends on my shifts, but if I'm free and I get a pass from SWMBO, then I'm in... :thumb2

I'm in .. depending of my shifts and SHWBO's say so :thumb

I am halfway between Ashford and Rye and so find all of the normal monthly meetings too far for a wednesday evening. It would be good to meet up with other GS'ers tho and so anything a bit closer to home or on a more suitable day would be great. :thumb2

Used to have one in the summer at the Prince of Wales in Hythe on a Wednesday but turnouts weren't too good. Wednesday is a regular biker night there in any case.

Smudge,
I have added you to the list.. The trick is now finding a time and place that everyone is happy with!:eek

Kent motorcycles can get a bit lairy on a Wednesday evening... What day are we looking at?

How about combining a meet with a good cause??

"Next Sunday 12th April; Easter Egg Run, meeting at The Plough Swalecliffe at 1pm for a 2pm departure to the QEQM hospital"

We could meet up somewhere for a late breakfast, go on to the Plough and then ride somewhere after the QEQM visit if people want to?? Maybe go on to Sandwich or further??
