Kenwood 3201 0r 3301 radio wanted.

Hi there, I am having issues using my icom, do you know how these radios work, I have Midlands and Motorola's that are simple to use, but the Kenwood and icom's have a different set up and I can't get my icom to talk to my Midlands or Motorola's.

Any ideas, I have two icom IC-F22SR with Autocom leads, if I cant get to understand these, I maybe selling them.

I assume they are all on the PMR 446 frequencies and the TX. (transmit) radio is set to the same frequency as the Rx. (receive) radio,if so they should talk to each other unless, one or other has been re-programmed to another frequency within that PMR band. Another thing you need to check is that both radios have the same CTSS (privacy codes) setting so that when one radio transmits it's privacy code the receiving radio recognises that and opens up to the incoming transmission and vice versa if they haven't you will get the problem you describe. I'm not familiar with the radios you talk of but i do have some knowledge based on what i have read about them.

Sorted now. Bought one of these with battery eliminator, spare battery and programming lead which enables the use of the free programming software download. It is compatible with the Autocom Kenwood lead too

Thank you for this, its beginning to make sense, I am sure that what you have described is the issue as they are PMR 446 frequency radios.

I have read the manuals and beginning to get my head around the CTCSS, I am moving forward, but still have some way to go, if there anyone with the knowledge that would be willing to have a telephone conversation to advise?
