Kenwood Fun Key UBZ-LJ8 anyone use?

Well, i picked up a starcom1 adv unit at the NEC show last year and have just started to plan/design/look at the fitting and mounting..

I got a above radio unit at the same time... and it has a rotational arial.. so the arial can be upright whilst the handset is horizontal..

So, has anyone got one/used one and can tell me how they do on battery and where you had yours positioned?

Any help/photo's greatly appreciated.

I often use one and they aren't a bad little radio. Mine sits in my tank bag on my 1200 and the batteries last a while, a good few rideouts at least. If you have mates using the larger kenwood TK series, use the following compatibility chart from the handbook to set the channel and group mode:

TK3101/ FUNKEY
Ch 1/ Ch 1, Gp Mode 10
Ch 6/ Ch 2, Gp Mode 18
Ch 3/ Ch 3, Gp Mode 13
Ch 5/ Ch 4, Gp Mode 17
Ch 8/ Ch 5, Gp Mode 7
Ch 12/ Ch 6, Gp Mode 6
Ch 7/ Ch 7, Gp Mode 19
Ch 10/ Ch 8, Gp Mode 15

We have used these radios for some time and have found them very good indeed with a good range. It sits on my handle bar in a bag. Batteries last a while. My mate has wired his to the battery using the fittings supplied.

Thanks for the info and views. I will be sticking withese, but looking replace these with TK3201 in the future on bike power..
