Kenwood radios

Kenwood radio, particularly 3101, has anybody wired such a radio direct to the bike? I wanna do it, but I'm all thumbs.. help/advice required, do I need some sort of voltage regulator, etc etc

All the people I know who have done this have done it through their Intercom, in many cases the Autocom system and they provide the necessary power leads to power the radio by the bike via the Autocom.

Autocom provide a dummy battery case type power lead or a bare wire option which connects to the battery terminals of the radio. Priced between £20-40 ISTR.
