Hello,

Long time reader, infrequent poster!

I'm after some info or help on getting hold of a new, or second hand bit for my radio.

On the right side (looking at the front of the radio) there are two sockets to connect external accessories. The radio comes with a blanking plate to cover them, but also a different cover designed to clamp in place anything plugged into the sockets...

...I'm trying to get a new, or second hand one of these, but they are a nightmare to find, or extortionately expensive for a piece of plastic!

Does anyone have any good ideas, knowledge of a second-hand dealer or one they don't want?

Cheers,

Andy

The TK series radios were used extensively by emergency services.

Notably the TK350 series.

They used a 'public safety microphone' which plugged into that socket.

The socket is standard on kenwoods, pin configuration is different on most other makes.

But the police/ambulance type radios had a simple folded metal retainer that was affixed by a screw which stopped the safety mic from being unplugged.

Find a PMR radio dealer with a radio workshops and ask one of the engineers if they have any lying around, most of the police radios ended on the second hand market, I have about 10 of them, without safety mics though.

You can see the oblong folded metal retainers in this photo, not as sexy as the plastic but should be cheap/free.

Basically l have been quoted 2 quid each but minimum spend £15 plus vat so l will have some spares

Sorry for not replying mate, for some reason I didn't get a notification! Does the offer still stand?

Hi

I'm in the same boat as you. I picked up 4x TK-3301's from "that auction site that shall not be named" and am also look for the clamp to keep the speaker/mic jack in place. As this post is nearly 2 months old I thought I'd chance asking if you:

a) went ahead with the purchase of a number of clamps
and
b) have any left that you are willing to sell ?

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tim,

Thanks for taking the time to come in to central London to drop them off. It was great chatting with you. Hope to catch up again at an event soon.
