kpg 32d software isnt looking at radio ,no upload download

do these radios need to be in data transfer mode ?

button presses on switchon?

Yes they do

button under the ptt and lamp button ,hold both in and switch on

display should read --PC--

still wont talk to the laptop though

need a verified copy of kpg32d methinks

last time I used a downloaded kpg program I spent days trying to figure out what was wrong ........it was corrupted program

so anyone on yahoo radio programming group?

took the precaution of ordering the newer version and usb lead too but would like the V1 to mess with on my ancient lappy

:)

bollocks

its not the prog

its the 30 yr old lappy and its configuration

dos sucks

thankfully there is a more modern version on cd with a usb lead

bollocks

the first two progs listed by the seller on the cd are kpg32 and kpg27

niether are on the disk

bollocks

I now have 3 good copies of kpg32d in ye olde dos ver 1 and a crappy lappy thats not playing ball

i have a serial to usb lead and a disk full of utilities and progs for reams of radios.............but not the one I need..........

i do have kpg 49 to 100 though:blast

ahhh well back to the drawing board

What you need is an old slow computer... most modern computers are too fast for the radio to handle... an old 286 ? or was it 256? would work. Had this problem last year...

yeh I'm using an ancient toshiba lappy that runs kpg 20 ok, its dos 6

it has one serial port and i'm using the 22 type lead from radioarena

i've skooted the twin plugs and connecters with switch cleaner

but its still not playing ball

i'm a dos numpty....... but if I try to allocate a com port it recognised that there is only 1

I can ask it to read from the radio and it tries.......but no flashing led indicating data transfer and after 20 seconds a comms error

if its not plugged into the radio its an instant comms error

radio is deffo in PC mode

I kinda thought that the serial/usb lead and newer version of the program , version 1.21 if anyone has it ,would be easier to work with as my 'dos for dummies' book is getting a bit worn........:D

there is a group of sad gits ,like myself, that have to mess with radios and put them where they shouldnt go...........eaven they havent came good with vers 1.21..........plenty of good uncorrupted vers 1's though........I can e mail what I have if other tossers are into programming 'n stuff............I now have a load of newer tk series progs:D

hopefully the guy who sold me the programming disk will have vers 1.21 and send it to me.

Nope he has just e mailed me another copy of vers 1

feck

dos sucks

this may cost me beer as I track down one of the IT geeks in the village and task them with determining why the feck this comms aint working

fortunately they are old enough to remember dos being programming geeks

being a hardware geek at least I can solder and not burn my fingers............:D

I know a guy in cardiff who can program it for you.. he did my two last year... let me know if you get stuck and I'll see if I can dig up his email... maybe you just need to talk to him about it will work ... if you know what I mean!

Thanks but this is now a mission.

I have tracked down a senior IT bod from the council and promised him guiness if he has a look at the config on my lappy,I'm thinking baud rates on old dos serial ports were configured manually and mine may need setup.

should have been ok as I last used it running kpg20 and it programmed up a couple of tk 809's ok:nenau

now I'm off to research 20 yr old dos specialist programs and thier baud rates.......

let us know what happens... I'd love to be able to program mine on a more recent computer... not quite worth keeping an old desktop for program my radios once every 2 years!

He has no idea why its not communicating and is sourcing another ancient lappy to try it on that

I'll get there eventually

note to self.........PMR programming was a lot simpler when you just ordered a new set of crystals and re tuned the IF stage and power amp...........:D

I do have a box of ancient motorolas somewhere..........they were 6 ch crystal jobs..........

but I'll hang on till I source another lappy .......then try again

beginning to wonder if these are 350's in 359 plastic covers..............may try kpg 23 if I strike out.........

Did you sort this?

I had the same problem but managed to find an old Toshiba laptop which ran the software and also communicated with the radios...

I can help if you need .... but you might also be able to help me - one of mine is in scan mode and I can't figure out how to lock it to ch.1. I know there's a combination of keypresses but I can't figure out which it is!

If you know - please tell!

Cheers

Greg

Nope still trying to source an old p100 circa laptop

get the manual here:http://mods.dk/manual.php?brand=kenwood

or post your e mail addy and Ill send it

Mods dk will need a registration but its free for one download per 3 days

did find a tk340 for £10 on fleabay and was gifted a yaesu 8100 to add to my collection...........

Aha

the volume control apparently adjusts the signal level from lappy to radio when in pc mode

when I dig out the lappy and power supply I'll try again with the volume turned UP!!!!

:green gri

Now I need to stop coveting old motorolas............ht 700's

I have a box of them but they need re crystaled and new batts

25 sovs a batt is a bit steep though

scan mode can be switched off via the softwear can it not?

put the radio in pc mode.............connect the lead and dump the memory from radio to lappy then switch off scan, then dump it back into the radio........I usually switch off scan when programming as I load up loads of channels

The 449 reapeated several times with different ctcss
The 446 again reapeated with different ctcss

and I will probrably put in the kenwood channel set on 446

the dPMR446 will probrably get dumped in there as well:thumb

did you download the manual?

Hiya

I had the s/w on small floppy but can transfer it to a USB stick if needed ... but I guess you've solved your comms problem now - I was going to say I initially had the same problem, but it was the lead that was not compatible - the lead that worked for me also has an additional phone jack plug too...

i used a desktop running win xp. used dosbox, a dos emulator to run the software. i'm going to try to get it working on a laptop using a usb-serial adaptor, thats if i haven't scewed up the software transferring it!

oh and i also had problems with a lead. worked sometimes with kpg20d but wouldn't work at all with kpg32d. got a new decent one & no more problems
