Does anyone know all the differences between these jeans. There are loads of different brands out there all differing prices, some full Kevlar and some key impact areas only.
Some with armour and some without.
I will be buying some but just don't know where to start.
Any help please.

Hi G, l bought a pair of "Oxford Super Sliderz" kevlar reinforced jeans a few weeks ago.
Reinforced in key impact area's > bum, hips down back of legs to behind knee and knee at front including armour... £70ish from J&S.
They came with knee protectors (optional if you put them in- but l have them fitted (there comfy & dont annoy me), and they have inbuilt area for hip protection which you can buy extra - l haven't .
Liked the black ones so much when l got home - l went back over to shop and got the blue....both pairs same style they look like my levi's = normal.

l wanted some for quite a while but could'nt find the size /style l liked = normal as opposed to looking like a yoof in a boy band.
l'm 6'4" and these are great and the plenty long legged version.
Hope this helps have a look - J&S

Hax, perfect mate. I'm also 6' 4" so that's great news. I live locally to J&S so will be calling in tomorrow.

No probs :thumb2, just checked the label inside & their website the style l've got is SS2, cheers

I've recently purchase a pair of Hornee Kevlar jeans from JTS online. I'm 6'2 with 44" waist and their 44" jeans fit perfectly. They come with separate slide on knee armour which is a little tight for my liking but is preferable to integral armour that could move about in a spill. No hip armour though.

I've not owned a pair before so can't compare to any others.

+1 - The cut and finish of Hornee jeans get my vote, and as stated - stocking knee armour is more likely to stay in position than pocket-armour.

One thing with stocking-armour......... try on one if you can - to ensure that the design doesn't allow chafing of velco against your skin.

I've got a pair of these in black http://www.hoodjeans.co.uk/acatalog/k7-motorcycle-jeans-mens.html

They fit very well for off the bike too and don't feel bulky.

I'm thinking of getting my stocking knee armour altered, maybe adding a piece of fabric to make them slightly larger to slide onto my chubby legs. Unless anyone knows of any other good stocking armour brands I could try?

Have a look at Bull-it jeans website http://www.bull-it.com . If what they state is fact then Kevlar jeans are not as good as what we have been lead to believe. I purchased a pair and have found them very comfortable. I also fitted their knee and hip armour.

I called at J&S Northwich and was looked after by Alistair who was full of enthusiasm and had me try every style / type of jean they had before I ended up buying the http://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/clothing/denim-jeans/red005-rider-denim-jeans-blue.html
There are so many different styles and all fit differently. These are a bit chav with the leg zip but work great with the boots and although it says stretch above the knee it isn't so looks like a normal jean,
A bit of discount helped when asked so don't forget if your in there.
A baggier fit means comfort but its doubtful if the knee armour would stay in place in a slide but the same could be said of some of my other textile pants.
For info the legs come in short / med / long on all types but the reds are two inch longer in the long compared to the SS brand (36" vs 34") and that's what I needed.
We all know these don't do the job of leather but it might be better than going out in my normal jeans at least.

I'm looking for some decent jeans too, not heard of them but they look good, ta :)

Anybody tried Maple? Gotta say they are, looks wise and quality, exactly what I want. I'm just finding it hard to justify the expense

Agreed, that why I started off with an £80 pair and if I feel they are ok then might invest in a better pair for long term use.
Re the J&S jeans, the SS brand is Oxford products and the Red Route brand is Frank Thomas which is now owned by J&S anyway after FT went bust.
Buying at store also means a fit on first and also they will exchange if you don't like when you get home.

Bought a pair of the BMW armoured jeans last week. Hadn't intended to, but was in the showroom and saw them, tried them on, loved the cut and convenience of not getting textile gear on all the time if wanting to go out for a short ride. £160 (RRP £180). I'm 6'1 and 32 waist, and the 50's were perfect.

I bought a pair very similar to these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mens-Moto..._Motorcycle_Trousers&var=&hash=item5f85b0fb5a

in June last year, and tend to wear them most weekends as normal jeans (they are heavier than modern jeans, like they used to be way back when stuff was made proper) I wear them when I'm just buzzing around town usually, but have worn them on longer journeys and have not "felt unsafe"

The ones I bought were about £40 plus £5 P&P and were listed as waterproof, which they were for a week or so until it "wore off" I have used various types of waterproofer on them since but it never seems to last more than a week or so, so it's cheaper to have a pair of over trousers for the wet stuff.

Anyhoo, they are good and tough, although I have not had to rely on the Kevlar lining or the free CE knee and hip Armour that was included.

I am now looking at buying another pair of blue ones, and I can't really see why you need to spend upwards of £150 for a pair of jeans with a label on, and yes , I get the "you get what you pay for" thing, but surely Kevlar is Kevlar is it not??

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had the misfortune to have test the strength of this product in an accident.

Any of you found that the kevlar lined jeans are really sweaty?

I bought Rosie some for a birthday years back, and that's how she describes them.......they would appear not to breathe at all so get sticky
