Kevlar long johns

Now that summer is here (?) and it's a bit warmer, I have been looking about for something cooler than leathers. I'm not convinced the motorcycle jeans with kevlar panels are good enough in a slide down the road, so did a search and came up with these:

I reckon a pair of those with some seperate knee protectors would fit the bill, then slip on some motorcross pants to cover the whole lot up.

Any opinions?

Not to sure as they obviously havn't been tested being dragged up the Tarmac, as the advert say's its anti slash I have a pair of Draggin jeans as they are the only Jeans to have been fully tested and carry the CE test for abrasion, burst & tear.

True. I was assuming kevlar is kevlar, though I dunno if 180gm is heavy duty.

Add the armour and the motocross pants and I reckon you'll be hotter than if you wore leathers.

I thought the drag tests with Kevlar jeans looked pretty good on YouTube. I think my preference would be Hood jeans (http://www.hoodjeans.co.uk/) as they appear to have more Kevlar than Draggin Jeans. I also noticed BMW and Hein Gericke do them with armour built in. I would add armour to the sticky out bits (hips and knees ) if it didn't come with the jeans.

Good find! I was wondering if someone did something like this on the way in today.

Knitted Kevlar is extremely abrasion resistant. Woven Kevlar not quite as much - some technical discussion here: http://www.ixion.org.uk/faq/kevlar.html

I have the Hood jeans, fully lined with Kevlar with removable armour to the knees/hips. Not sure how much the armour would move (and don't wish to find out) in an accident but as a change from leather for the odd run into town they're great. But for a long run I'll stick to the twat suit with the liners out

Bought a pair of Hood jeans with Kevlar and armour for my trip to Italy.

Just got back and can tell you that they're quite comfy to wear, but they're f'in roasting hot things! Must be all that Kevlar...

I can agree with this. I had a set of joe rocket kevlar jeans and bugger me they were toasty hot. To the point that i wouldnt wear them in the summer... which is kinda the time they are designed for.

Oh and the kevlar can feel a bit rough across the skin, sort of scratchy.

Not sure as it seems to me the kevlar is an 'open' fibre, where the leather is 'closed'. Does the kevlar not flow air since its knitted (or woven) thus leaving you cooler than leathers, or even the double layers of kevlar / denim?

Moto X pants are extremely thin too, only there to cover up the armour and keep the mud off really...
