had this on my R1200RS recently. New battery of unknown age from a drawer was weak. Fresh one fitted, problem resolved. I suspect you new battery is duff. They age quite rapidly if not kept in ideal conditions e.g. under the seat of the bike where they might get warm then cold in repetitive cycles.

I did buy it for my last trip last year
Last time I replaced the battery, it came up on screen battery low replacement.
Thanks for the heads up .

Also make sure the new battery is from a reputable source, I had problems with new duracell batteries I bought off fleebay in my car remote, changed for pamasonic ones and havevhad no issues since.

Try putting key in a different place. Mine gives the same message if I have my Keis vest on and out the fob in my left pocket.

Battery likely culprit as I think can be brand specific.

+1 for avoiding Duracell button batteries. I've had problems in a key fob and also in a Polar H10 heart monitor. The latter is supposed to last 400hrs on a battery and with Duracells it was lasting me around 30! Thought the device was faulty but tried a Panasonic and normal service resumed.

My local Motorrad service manager said to use Varta batteries. This was when I had issues with my K1600 fob eating batteries. Seemed to work ok with Varta. Also I’ve had problems with the kid proof batteries as the foul tasting coating they put on them stopped them working in my fob. 🤷
