Hi

Has anyone managed to get the backup key to work (for keyless ignition)

I have pressed it all over the mudguard with no success.

I had to wiggle about a muddy bike to get mines to fire up. I was more pissed off due to being miles away from home or anywhere to get a battery for the keyless one. Lesson learned. The spare lives in my wallet now.

I was away and i got warning on my dash for several days before i actually changed the battery. And to my surprise the batteries were easy to source, from a normal newsagents in Luxembourg in the end.

Good stuff! That was lucky. I didn't seem to get any warnings. Or if I did, didn't see them. Nevermind.

Everytime i switched the bike on, the orange warming light came on with a picture of the key on the dash. It was clear what it meant. And i suspected that low battery would still give me a few days use.

I keep a spare fob battery on my tank bag.

I have one under the seat with the manual - you can get a pack of 4 Panasonic CR2032 from Amazon for a quid or any pound shop.

With the back-up key I have found it works on the RS if you wedge it under the pillion seat over the antenna.

I presume you all know that your keyless fob starts the bike in the same way as the spare key in the event the battery goes flat?

Thanks for this forum......I noticed a message on the dash but as I didn't have my reading glasses on the message didn't register, having just read this thread (with my glasses on!) I've been out and checked and low and behold the message clearly says KEYLO.

I'm going away next week, so it was an incident waiting to happen, I'll get a new battery tomorrow.

Thanks again
Richard
