Does anyone else have trouble with keyless tank, mine won’t open but come out of fuel station and opens ok

Prod keyless button, open tank. Simples

My MOT tester almost failed my GSA because the petrol flap wouldn't open, then he realised he needed the key present and the engine off for it to open.

It’s annoying cos it always opens round the corner
If I remember I have to stop short, open the cap and then pull in station
Not sure what the problem is in fuel stations

Have you tried relaxing the allen screws on the tank filler a little ?

I fitted an SW Motech tank bag ring to my tank fuel filler and had to adjust the allen screw tension slightly to let the cap open freely.

You do know you have to turn ignition off before the cap will open?
I also find that pressing down on the cap with moderate force before lifting the unlocking flap helps - locking, too. Operation of the cap feels very iffy at the best of times.
After about a year of owning mine with no problems there was one time when i fuelled up i could`nt open the cap and i resorted to undoing the two screws at the front and removing the small plate.
I`d forgotten to turn the ignition off.....
Clown. 🤡

It’s not that cos it works fine at home or if I pull away from fuel station
Just seems to be in the station, ok rest of time

Lube the pin when open, if sticky push down then pull lever, if tanklok ring fitted adjust the bolts.

I had this issue when the bike was about 2 years old, it got so unreliable that I resorted to carrying an torx key in my pocket so I could dismantle it at fuel stops! When I mentioned it to the dealer they swapped it out for a new one immediately and it's been working fine ever since. The dealer hinted that they were quite troublesome. Personally I'd be quite happy to use my key.

Keyless ride.....a solution to a problem I never had, along with all the other technology I can quite happily live without.

I was discussing this with a Ducati MTS V4 owner yesterday at Brooklands Motorcycle Day and he mentioned that it seems to happen at petrol stations but not in other circumstances because a lot of garages have mobile phone masts and the signal interferes with the comms between the key and bike. Just throwing it out there.

Your tool kit has a torx screwdriver in it that will open this . Turn your screwdriver over (comes out and refit)

Not the bolts that ship with the Givi tank ring that replace the standard ones, they are a smaller torx forget what size as I've sold it now.

This caught me out when I first got the bike...but like someone else mentioned you must turn the ignition off otherwise it won't open.

To me, it seems like a solution to a problem that didn't exist. I love the keyless start that's brilliant because I was always leaving my keys in the ignition but the key is fuel cap just seems like a novelty that I don't need
