I think a couple of days there sounds like a plan. I wonder if I can fit it in with a MotoGP Weekend? When is Sachsenring?Another suggestion Iain...you are so close to Ancona there why not take the overnight ferry to Split and save the dull ride around the over populated coastline past Venice ?
From Split you have much more choice and time to spend on interesting roads in nice countries...Like via Bosnia and Serbia to Romania, or Montenegro and Serbia, or further south via Albania and FYROM to Bulgaria, spend a couple of days in MotoSapiens (http://motosapiens.org/motocamp/Info) before heading north to Romania after all the snow has melted
You are in that neck of the woods anyway and I reckon you'd love it !

Did you manage to get good look at that rigger in the harbour by any chance ?
I'm now in Agropoli south of Napoli 8 hours on the road and 251 miles I left at 8 in 27C and by 1PM it was 34.5C. I rode like an Italian all day, no gloves or jacket.

Here's a sunset from Agropoli at 20:30! 3 hours earlier than at home and they are better at home. I'll see if I can get a better from Sicily.
I'm now in Trani, where Beltrani was their first mayor. I tried Bari but it's huge so moved north to Molfetta but no accommodation. It's a local holiday here and the yacht marina is heaving! I spent a lot of time in one way narrow windy streets and even when I found a hotel ( Royal) it was all boarded up. Tomorrow I'm heading to Foggia, Campobasso and on to Pescara ( that plan could change tomorrow).
