Killed my bike! Help!

Im new to this forum I know so appologies for asking so many questions so soon! But I've just made a major error and don't know what to do!

Have been trying to remove an inforad speed camera detector thingamy from my old triumph to put on my new f800. Simple enough I figured. Anyway unhooking everything has been a real pain. I had to remove the front cowl, take the cables out of the dash, unscrew the tank and pull the cable through. The power cable and earth were soldered directly onto the bikes wiring, so I clipped those and wrapped everything back up in electrical tape, carefully untangled everything from the bike and put all the panels back on.

Turned the key, lights on and can hear it prime, but no dash display and no ignition!

Really worried I've done something terrible and expensive. Have never played with electrics before and can now see why!

Fuses all seem good, and alarm still works a treat. Battery is getting low but thats not it.

One thing I've learnt is that I won't try to install this on my BMW!! Ahh help!!

Have you been drinking Canbus fluid?

Seriously the bikes wiring is different from most of bike makes & accessories should be wired in via the battery or a fused accessories box (name escapes me) which is then wired to the battery direct

Is that one of those things that block speed cameras, that are buried deep in the bike so that no one can find it?

I'm beginning to wider whether it's the datatool alarm inline fuse... Only I can't see where it is!

Which Triumph is it, sounds like a main fuse to me. You say you can hear the fuel pump go through the prime sequence ? Which would lead me to suspect an ignition fuse.

I would go along with an ignition fuse, check them again you say they look ok but test em fella, hard to diagnose without being there good luck anyway ATB Hughie

No I tried to put the inforad back in the circuit to see if that had affected it, but the alarm kept going off so I had to put it in "valet" mode to remove the battery. However valet mode delivered a fault code which said there was a power problem with the alarm which had immobilised the bike.
So took the battery out and charged it up. Put it back on and the dash sprang to life! Crossed fingers, took it inforad back out of the circuit, and the dash still came on! Crossed fingers and toes And cranked it over but everything died
Gave the battery terminals another tighten and tried again and she started!
So it seems I must have cut the power at some point which immobilised the bike, but then my efforts to restart drained the battery to the point where I couldn't Un-immobilise (mobilise?) it. So the long and short is that it's running again!

Now... Does anyone want to buy a Triumph Speed Four?!?!



Right I'm off down the pub for some stress relief!!
