Just wondering if any bright chaps on here can help or advise.

My SP111 has been working fine till the run down to Andover on Friday where it froze a couple of times ( and tried to send us on the the wrong motorway too). Didn't use it Saturday but left it on the bike for the Tank Grounds run.
On the run home on Sunday it powered up ok and worked for a couple of miles before freezing again. Switched it off and now it won't power back up.

Checked power supply at home today - power to lead ok, power to pin in lead ok.
Opened unit  power on inside of unit.

Put back together again but stll no signs of life. There is also something rattling around inside which I could neither see nor get out when I split the SP.

Is it dead or is there a magic switch somewhere I don't know about?

ahh yours is an early model i believe , they have the special suicide chip and you must send it back to garmin for replacement with the latest model at no extra cost???

otherwise i dont know m8 , it sounds fekked.. :thumb

Had mine pack up and not want to power from the external power cable...sent to garmin and waiting for a reply. Didnt want to open myself as this will void the guarantee.

There is a fuse inside the plug that goes into the accessory socket - maybe that has blown - that happened to mine though I haven't replaced it yet.

Hmmm, the magic switch maybe a Master Reset:
Hold down the quit button, route button, and up on the rocker pad. Press power button, wait until you get the first power-up screen then let go of the up and wait for the unit to come on fully then let go of the rest of the buttons.

But the loose bit inside doesn’t sound good, :(

I checked that - ( might as well use the circuit tester I bought for some reason).
There is power from the bike aux socket to the Garmin cable pin and when it is plugged into the SP, there's power on the inside.....

I'm kind of leaning towards Slimbo's highly technical insight.... I think it's fekked.
