Hi

I'm taking the wife across Fishguard to Rosslare then to Kinsale this weekend.
1150 GSA, with mate also coming on R1100RT. If you see us, gizza wave!

Any local knowledge on the best restaurants in Kinsale most welcome.

Am I correct in remembering "The Bridge" by Bannow bay is a good pub restaurant before getting back to Rosslare?

Me, I like a good (shell) fish.

Cheers

Oh, and I was told September is the most reliable month of weather for Ireland, so if you could keep that promise I'd be most grateful!!!! We've grown webbed feet in Wales!

3 of us will be in the area friday night. 1200gs 800gs and multistrada. we'll be sure to wave ;)
forecast isn't great!

Bladerunner

I think that The Bridge you refer to is a take-away/restuarant in Wellington Bridge on the New Line road (actually a turnpike road built by the British army to supply the fort at Duncannon, but lets not allow that to spoil relations:P ). The Bridge not a pub (so perhaps you're thinking of somewhere else), and as far as I know, doesnt do seafood to any great degree. If you stay on the main road between Cork and Rosslare, you dont pass thru Wellington Bridge, and only do so if you take the B road between Wexford and Waterford via the Passage East Car Ferry across the Suir estuary. You should be able to get a decent sea food meal in Passage or Ballyhack/Arthurstown, or guaranteed to do so if you divert to the fishing village of Dunmore East on the Waterford side of the estuary.

The road from Waterford to Cork is pretty uninteresting for a GS'er (though better for an RT!) but there are options to explore smaller routes if time/curiosity allows. PM if you need any details.

Dino

Dino's chipper gets my vote .. a bag of chips in the hand ,sitting on the wall while people watching ... enjoy:thumb2

If you don't mind a little ride/drive out to Dungarvon.
I can throughly recommend this place :thumb2

We had the early bird special on Barbs birthday this year and it was amazing.
Service was outstanding, Food brilliant :bounce1 Bill not as bad as Kinsale prices:(
Menu seems a little experimental at first, such as "Warm Pork crackling Salad"

Plaice with Apple/beetroot/coleslaw :mmmm:mmmm
Absolutely fantastic, next time in Ireland we will be there again :thumb2:thumb2

But Just typing that is making my mouth water :mmmm:mmmm:mmmm

Thanks for all that guys. I'll report back.

I'm trying to remember a pub I sat outside and had a lovely fish platter - smoked salmon etc. It's south of the N25 and close to an estuary, less than 30 mins from Rosslare, it was near a ruined castle :nenau Ideal for lunch before the 3 o'clock back.

Not to worry, exploring is half the fun.

RT now cried off so just me an the wife on GSA 1150. Me very yellow Darien, silver schuberth C2, she blue Aerostich roadcrafter red system 4

Thanks again, looking forward to the

cheers :aidan

That sounds like either Ballyhack, where that car ferry leaves from on the Wexford side, or Arthurstown, about 2km in nearer to Rosslare, but along the Suir Estuary also.....

If you dont mind a 15 min drive outside Kinsale, ther is a place called Sean na mBads, was there with a group last sat night, the food is out of this world, I had the pork steak and the missus had the cod which she reckoned was one of the best she ever tasted. the pints are spot on also :)

Perhaps you were thinking of the Ferrycarrig Inn on the Dublin Road just outside Wexford - it matches your description but closed down some time ago.

The Ferrycarrig is the hotel right on Wexford Bay (left hand side as you're heading south into Wexford).
The place on the river (just past Ferrycarrig on opposite side) which burned down a while ago :( was the Oak Tavern IIRC. Good spot for a chowder ;) But they don't appear to be rebuilding it :tears

Bladerunner - enjoy & have a safe run

Bladerunner spotted....

Passed a 1150 GSA in Castlemartyr on my way back from Cork in the cage about 5pm this afternoon (he was heading west) Rider in Yellow jacket and pillion in Blue 'stitch. :thumb

Made me envious to be on two wheels

That'll be us then!!!

Well managed to avoid the harmful sun's rays last weekend by heading off West.

Straight run to Fishguard, met some chaps who were off for a week.
Good run over - not sure if club seats or whatever they are are worth extra.

Heavy heavy rain the moment we hit Irish soil!!
Then good run West.

Waterford traffic a mess.

Then Lovely high waterfall to North past Waterford.

Easy run south of Cork to Kinsale.

Had a cracking weekend - Spaniards was good - 3 oysters and mules/muilles/mueles marnierres - oh FFS - muscles in wine.

Chatted up by irish lovely and bought guinness despite wife next to me

Had run west along costal route on Saturday.

Wet ride back yesterday, but good to stretch the GSA's legs.

Good points:
Lovely Irish girls - you guys are spoilt rotten!! They were slim, pretty and blond and did the chasing of the men!! Most men seemed to sit over a guinness and try to shake them off!!! Women these parts are hidden under muffin tops, tattoos and body piercing.
Great sea food
Ace views around Kinsale

Bad points
Had the valve covers pinched off bike outside Dinos :nenau What's that about? In over 150k miles of touring worldwide, the only 2 places I have had a bike interfered with were Kinsale and Cork !!
Eire a bit pricy with euro .8 to the £

Thanks for all the advice guys, we'll be back

Simon
