Hi guys,
I hope this isnt naughty to post, but i figured a lot of people on here may have an interest in at least seeing this thing and trying it on.
As mentioned in the title we (adventure-spec) will have a full sizing set of these at the excel show (apart from tall leg pants, but if they're too short you know you'll need the long ones!)
Theres a massive discussion on this thing over at advrider (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=530695) if you need any info on the background, features, development etc of the suit.

A lot of people will have made there minds up that this thing is massively over priced, not for them and cant possibly be as great as all the blah, blah, blah.

I will say this. you cant make a judgement on this thing until you have TRIED ONE ON.
It feels very different to anything available, its a genuinely unique piece and if you do a lot of riding and want something that will last a long time and really perform better than anything else for adventure/trail/commuting/rallying etc give it a look.

There should be a few dealers that will have these once the stock arrrives in late march, but your best bet will be to get to the show or arrange a visit to us if you're up north. We will only have the sizing set for a week or so after Excel.

We'll also have a few items on sale (we only have a very small stand compared to our Dirt Bike Show presence) and be showing the Klim range, plus Giantloop luggage, Vision X lighting, Motion Pro tools and Guard-it Technology bashplates. Hope to see you there!

I'm looking for another suit. I'm sure this one does what it says on the tin, but at the stated price (£1500)........ no fucking chance!!! That's just STUPID MONEY... even for people with more money than sense:blast

Good luck :thumb I suspect you may need it...

hi steve, i guess you've made your mind up that this thing is massively over priced, not for you and cant possibly be as great as all the blah:blagblah, blah:blagblah, blah:blagblah then.

Yeh...it's only my personal opinion, so don't be offended. I'm sure it's a great suit, really! Possibly the best on the market, and yes, I'm sure I would want one if I saw it in the flesh and it did what it proclaimed to do.

Don't get me wrong, I'll pay good money for good quality and financially I'm OK, but, but I won't pay £1500 for a jacket and pants to wear on my bike.....it borders on absurd....

Fcuk it looks like a dry suit that I used to get from my quarter master:confused:!!!!!,and its shit loads of money, think BMW twat suits are cheap now.

So it's priced on a par with Rukka. How does the warranty compare???

hey steve,
im not offended. this suit definately isnt for everyone, it is hard to justify for a lot of riders.

A lot of the very serious enquiries we've had (at the dealer expo last week) have been from professional riders. Motorcycle instructors, couriers etc.
these guys live in their gear, so even though this suit isnt specifically designed with their jobs in mind they could clearly see it would keep them comfortable and dry in all conditions.

Its really comfy off the bike as well (particularly the pants), which is important on trips as you're spending most of your time in the stuff.

like i said in the original post you need to try one on to get it

im not familiar with the details of rukka's warranty.

The Klim suit is warrantied against manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the garment. It also has the Gore 'Guaranteed to Keep You Dry' Promise as the rukka products will.

Klim's general warranty terms can be seen here

One new and important thing that we have access to is a new central Gore repair facility in Austria.
In the event of accident damage the centre can replace entire sections of a garment, a new arm, a new leg etc all keeping the original warranty in tact.
The techniques they use are so accurate now they can stitch through the same holes used in original manufacturing. Now this will be charged at a reasonable rate but means your investment is somewhat more protected.

Theres also a company that we use in the north east that can do Gore warrantied repairs. Guide price £25 for a rip to be repaired and re-taped.

So all in all i think you're pretty well protected.
This is a flagship product for Gore hence the improved level of backup

Wonky....how about try before you buy?

Am going on a little tour at the end of March and expect to encounter a fair bit of mixed weather from snow/rain/to warm temps.....give me the suit to test, and if it meets up to expectations, I'll pay for it when I get back. I'll even leave my trusted twat suit at home:D

Last year I paid £200 for a 2 piece suit, I could not justify ever spending £1500:eek:

there is a bit of a 'test fleet' (i think 10 suits) for the official press event in austria in april, but they wont be released until after that and i dont know if we will have access to them.

Its an idea we talked about but i honestly dont know whats happening with them. All the prototype suits have been returned to Klim and Gore for analysis, but theres no point seeing them as so many important details have been changed. One suit did over 15k miles with about 30percent off road miles, looks as new after a wash. We knew things were going in the right direction when one of the development riders harassed Klim until they gave him his first prototype back as 'theres no point me wasting my cash on some other gear as it wont do the job'.

the initial 3 prototype shells went off on this, with 3 more getting used in dakar last year. the harness and armour prototypes then ran though 2009 with a couple here and a couple in the US. Jonah Street then used the final pre-prod special (in blue!) to come 7th in this years Dakar.

Im gonna wait until Nick marshall order one ...............anybody know what size he takes .:thumb

I only have a pair of Kilm Dakar gloves and pants but they are great quality, fantastic pieces of kit and good value. If the new suit is as good as has been rumoured on ADV then you'll never need to buy another suit for 10-15 years, or longer, irrespective of the type of riding you do so they may still represent good value even at that price. Hell some people buy a new bike every couple of years and when they do get a new helmet, suit and gloves to match .............£1000 ker ching.

how much have you got in bikes?

The thread is about clothing, not bikes, or should I rush out and buy a Klim suit as it only costs a tenth of the value of the house I live in..

Thanks for the PM and the pricing information!

Given it is in the price range of a rukka suit, does it have the same backup as a rukka?

1. 5 year no quibble warranty (I think the warranty goes beyond just the gore tex membrane)
2. repair or replace .. again no quibbles
3. temporary suit for you to use whilst yours is being looked at

If you were based in the South East how would you access those services if they were available? (I see you are based in the North of England)

The suit lasting 10 - 15 years is great, will it still fit though?
