Thanks for the PM and the pricing information!

Given it is in the price range of a rukka suit, does it have the same backup as a rukka?

1. 5 year no quibble warranty (I think the warranty goes beyond just the gore tex membrane)
2. repair or replace .. again no quibbles
3. temporary suit for you to use whilst yours is being looked at

If you were based in the South East how would you access those services if they were available? (I see you are based in the North of England)

i listed details of the warranty here

Its the same warranty except the Klim one is for lifetime of the garment, if you check the rukka warranty you'll see warranty issues are handled by Gore in Livingston as is the Klim warranty.

With regard to a replacement suit while work is done, i doubt it to be honest. This is a small run garment for now and there wont be loads of them floating around or held back. If you check the warranty post i linked to before there are details of the new repair service Gore has available.

There is no warranty against crashing your bike and damaging yourself or the suit but there is a Gore certified and high quality route to get you substantial investment repaired to as new condition!

As i mentioned earlier in the thread i dont have intimate knowledge of the rukka warranty situation. Where do i find details of this replacement suit service? I cant find details of it on Rukka's site or TranAm's who distribute rukka in the UK

Im pretty sure Patsy Quick at Desert Rose Racing will have access to these in the South East, but all warranty work is carried out at Gore so all that would happen is it would get sent to Scotland anyhow.

i cant remember exactly where to be honest. Gore have organised it for about 15 editors from Euro magazines, press launch over 2 days (a bit late considering suits arrive mid-march, but i dont decide these things!). I'll find out and let you know, one of us will be going i think.

Any details of the UK warranty, Wonky? Your link is to the US warranty, which does not necessarily transfer to the UK...

It certainly does appear to be up there with Rukka, but at that cost I would want to see a UK warranty that does not require that I ship the defective item back to the States

A wee-bit off subject but most people on here spend upwards of £300 on crash helmets, which are basically shite, mist up, bits of plastic fall off. They are noisy, draughty, and fitting intercoms is a nightmare (and when you fit an intercom, you realise just how shit they are). And you have to replace them every two or three years.

This company should go into the helmet business and make one with the same attention to detail as their suit.


PS. Nobody seems to complain about paying up to a grand for a tubular tin can with some glass fibre wadding inside.

Certainly would rather have top quality suit than a bit of bling at the end of my exhaust pipes.

I can vouch for Gore's backup as I got a brand new replacement North Face Jacket for a 7 year old one that leaked. Times were hard at at that point so ended up selling it on ebay for 75% of what I originally paid for it.

Quality kit is great while you have it and use it and if times get hard you can usually get a good percentage of your money back selling it on. Just look how well things shift in the FOR SALE section on this forum.

Try phoning a branch of Infinity Motorcycles. I bought my Rukka kit from the Peterborough branch and I have gone through them as the supplying dealer. They should be able to give you the details.

if you want to wear bin liners ducktaped to your charity shop jeans....fine whatever floats your boat,i wont slag you but after35yrs of biking i think it's time for some comfort on and OFF road and unless i'm wrong there is NO other product on the market that even comes near

I suppose that the important question is what it does that other very good suits do not do, to justify the extra cost?

That's likely to be hard to tell just by trying it on, so why not let us know what's so special about it. What is it that would justify my spending that sort of money on it as opposed to about half that for another good brand?

The question for me, and probably many others, is not whether we can afford £1,500 for a suit, but whether we want to or need to spend that much.

OK, so I cocked up on my maths, and should have checked my post before I submitted it, but just point out to me where I "slagged" the suit off, all I did was to say I could not justify spending £1500 on bike clothing.

The Rukka replacement seems to a local thing run by Tran Am via the dealer. It doesn't work very well - my jacket went in for repair (took 6 weeks) but it took them 4 weeks to get me the replacement jacket, which you have to pick up from the dealer and and in any case isn't like-for like, just anything they have in that's your size.

I've got the Klim Valdez parka and Dakar pants, and I rate them very highly. Don't forget this suit also has built in armour (proper armour too not like the normal stuff you get built in) and a water carrier which would cost you another £200 or more if you bought separately.

I've been using the Klim Valdez too - tis a fantastic jacket which doubled up very well as skiing jacket last week

Wonky - when I worked in the marine industry and gore tex first came on the scene for sailing, it was super expensive so many of the stores would have one or two demo jackets to lend out to customers for trial purposes. This was a great way to allow people to find out just how good the jacket it and to spread word of mouth... just something you might want to consider.

I won't be able to make it to the Excel show but would be interested in seeing a jacket in person - what are my options?
