… not an ideal choice of motorcycle helmet for on road use, according to Motolegends..

“That may sound like semantics, but you need to understand this nuance because the Krios Pro really is not very suitable for wearing on the road. In fact, we think it makes for quite a poor road helmet. And that’s largely down to noise. Now carbon helmets are often noisy because the shells don’t absorb sound in the way that composite ones do. But what makes the Krios Pro particularly noisy is the Koroyd. As we have said, Koyroyd is amazing stuff, but the hollow tubes that sit at the heart of its construction don’t so much absorb noise as transmit it. The Krios is very noisy; noisier even than the Bell Bullitt, hard as that might be to believe.

One customer recently reported that he could he hear the sound of every insect as it collided with the shell of his helmet. He even reckoned he could work out the sex! Another brought his back after an hour because, at 50 mph, he could not hear the music through the Krios’s dedicated Sena comms. system.

There’s another issue you need to be aware of. The Krios Pro is not very good at keeping the rain out. This is a helmet designed for riding off road. In such an environment, a bit of rain ingress is rarely considered the end of the world. But if you are used to the quality of seal that you would expect to find on a good-quality road helmet, you will be disappointed. In heavy rain, water will find its way past the visor into the helmet.”

I have one - not the Pro version. I used it all week in the alps, on and off road.

I’ll be using my Shoei in future.

Nothing especially wrong with it, just didn’t quite fit as well, and the lightness didn’t outweigh that irritation.

Have had a pro for a couple of years and it's a super light helmet, but VERY noisy. Roomy around the ears, which can be padded out for earphones etc, but still not great for comms. It also let's rain in very easily., especially from the top of the visor.

I have had one for 3-4 years , love it, very light , comfortable, great field of vision. You can’t shut the vent on the chin guard , it’s an open mesh which surprisingly has never been an issue . I did notice last year a little bit of rain running down the inside of the visor from the top. But I think it might just need a clean and a lube. I like to swap between a black and a clear visor which is very simple to do . Just rotate the large plastic clip on each side 45 degrees and presto . However , these clips also hold the sun shade / peak on and they don’t actually ‘screw down’ some play developed which allowed the peak to rattle on the side of the helmet annoyingly. Fixed with a little rubber packing. Plenty of room for my Sena comms no problem listening to my mate nor music. I have a stick on mic inside the chin bar and it’s a little distance away from my lips so my mate says I’m a little bit quiet.

I have the non pro version. I think it’s a fantastic helmet. :thumb2 I certainly don’t find it noisy and I never use ear plugs either.

I will add though that the opening that you put your melon through isn’t the biggest. :blast I have do a big head though! :D Once it’s on there’s plenty of room inside. I have a pair of the JBL 45mm helmet speakers in there too.:thumb2 I keep thinking about investing in the pro reactive visor for it but not got round to it yet.
I bought a system 7 BMW lid around the same time and think I’ve only worn it once or twice since I got the Klim Krios.

I have one too. I agree with all of the review. :thumb2

It's also very difficult to adjust the visor correctly.

We have to remember, we all have different shaped heads, so individuals will report different pro's and cons.

My other helmet is an Arai and they both fit well, but the Klim is looser, (smaller size too small) and with JBL fitted there's still room around the ears and assume that's why it is noisy.

I bought it for the Transitions visor and that works brilliantly. It does leak from the top though, but not badly.

The magnetic chin strap fastening takes some time to be confident with.

I have a Klim Krios carbon in medium. Medium is a comfortable fit in everything else - Schuberth, Arai, Shoei, HJC - but the Krios was pressing just above my eyebrows and causing a headache after 10 minutes until I 'modified' the polystyrene liner/impact absorber slightly with a Stanley knife. Didn't take much, so I don't think safety is particularly compromised, and now it's comfortable.

Very light, but pretty noisy. I certainly wouldn't wear it for a road/faster ride of 30 minutes or more. Must be the airflow, as it's also noticeably colder in the winter than other brands. I have used it for short rides/slow commuting to work and on a snowmobile (with a big fleece neckwarmer) and it was good for all those. I use a dedicated offroad helmet with goggles when green-laning, but I would happily use the Krios if it came to that.

I know this shouldn't matter to me as much as it does, but I think it looks great and I probably wear it more than I would do otherwise, for that reason. What a self-obsessed arse I must be....
