So, I have the new GS. So really need some decent clothes to go with it!!

Rukka Armas or Klim Badlands Pro or Klim Latitude 840 (if I want to save a bit of money!)

What should it be?

try them on and see which feels most comfortable. For me, one of the most important elements of safety is being comfortable. If you are cold, hot or have poorly fitting clothing then you will be distracted which will make you less observant of your environment.

Mine too - on to my second Klim jacket and they've both been excellent: well thought out, tough and comfortable.

Give the guys at Adventure Bike Warehouse a call :thumb2

I recently went through the same process needing a new jacket. In the end I opted for a Klim Badlands jacket, probably a bit OTT for my needs but I did want something waterproof, vented for the summer, good armour and would last well. The Latitude just didn't seem to fit me whereas the Badlands seemed much more fitted - to me. I hope it does last as I've never spent so much on a jacket before, but I got a good deal from the KTM shop in Hemel hempstead with a pair of gloves. There's no thermal lining for the Klim gear - so you will need layers if you don't have these already.

I have both Halvarsson and Rukka, and when i replace it will be with the Halvarrsson gear.

IMHO, easily as good as the Rukka and far better priced.

Also the back protector for Halvarsson jackets is very good.

Rukka v Klim

What attracts me to the Rukka is the 5 year guarantee - I'm not sure if you get the same cover with the Klim . If you're spending hat kind of dosh you need to know if there is a problem it can get sorted quickly and with no fuss:rob

Ok - didn't realise that - thanks. Think it's time to sell the rallye 3 and try the klim. Adventure bikes at Sudbury seem to stock both latitude and badlands - so think a trip out there is in order :beerjug:

Hein Gericke sell some really good stuff without breaking the bank. I've learnt over the years that the difference in quality between "brands" and well made HG etc is minimal.

Sorry, Cant comment on either Klim or Rukka, but I have the Halvarssons Odyssey Jacket, really good stuff. COMPLETELY waterproof (on the outsîde - 8-9 hours solid rain - completely dry), Its lightweight (..which at first will put you off 'cause it doesnt feel up to the job...initially), But in the past 2 years that Ive owned it, never been too hot (in the 80's-90s) and never been too cold..(with a technical undershirt, and 5 degc???)...

My two penneth....

I have the Odyssey jacket too, and in thirty+ years of riding by far best kit I've owned. Only problem is finding a dealer.

I have a Future frost free fridge freezer, made in GB with 5 settings. Hope that helps:thumb

Klim it is!

I've done the deal! A badlands pro absolute dogs bollox bit of kit.
Huge gulp when it was time to pay but hopefully it will last.
Just wanted to thank you boys on here for your advice and views etc. it's a real help to read of first hand experiences. :beerjug:
What swayed it for me in the end was a lack of vents on the rukka, meaning that I reckon it would too hot if we ever do get a decent summer.
First ride out today - and in a weird way was hoping for rain!
But with weather in this country wont have to wait too long I suppose!

+1 .....may fave gear has been a couple of items of BMW gear but its well pricey and my Halvarssons kit which is great and cheaper than both my Rukka and BMW kit . I do love my Rukka waterproof sports gloves (forget the name) they are fab (but very pricey) and I bought em a bit small:blast

It was the Proshell construction and vents that made my mind up for the Badlands as well. It is a lot of cash for a jacket but I'm hoping it lasts as well.
