I'm replacing my everyday, all year round, road trousers and will be going for Klim. I use their stuff off road and love it.

The only problem is I'm finding the choice a trifle confusing.

I've narrowed the choice down to:

  • Overland
  • Latitude
  • Badlands Pro

Any comments from people that have experience of using one or more of these would be most welcome :beerjug:

I got a pair of Overlands in the end from the very lovely peeps at ABW :)

Couldn't be more happy, cut like my Klim Dakars (ie baggy, off road styleeee) they couldn't be more comfy.

The venting is very generous so reckon they will be great in the summer. They are also plenty warm enough for our current weather and if very cold they will layer up perfectly.

I'm dead chuffed :)

I'm looking at either a pair of Overland troos or Badlands Pro. I have a Badlands jacket but can't see a reason to pay the difference on trousers as from a spec point of view the Overland should suit my needs. I'm a bit confused on the actual waterproofing aspect though - the Badlands are advertised as Goretex 3 layer Pro Shell and the Overlands as Goretex 3 layer laminate. Is there any difference between those?

My other concern is that whatever I get will be used on two different bikes - a 1200GSA and a K1100RS which have very different riding positions. I have a Rallye 3 Suit which is fine on the GSA in summer but the leg armour cuts into me on the K11. So what I'm looking for is needed mostly for winter riding on the GSA and all year round on the K11. Has anyone tried either Klim versions on a sports tourer type bike and if so what is your experience?

I think the Gortex thing is just in the wording used. All the bumf that comes with the Overland trousers describes it as ProShell and Gortex Pro which is the top level of the 3 types of Gortex laminate available.

Re the fit, they are very loose fitting and much more comfortable than my Rallye II's they replace. They fit perfectly on the waist, bum and length, it's just the cut which means they are loose around the legs (and defo only 'over boot') so I'd be surprised if the armour became uncomfortable when your legs are bent up more.

I'd defo try a pair though as the loose fit won't be to everybody's taste

I think, and I could be wrong, the the Badlands Pro have a more hardwearing fabric all over and not just on the contract points.

Worth checking if that's important to you.

Badland Pro for me, its a slimmer fit and the 2014 version is manufactured using Kevlar Armacor weave in panels of key impact and wear. I also understand that the manufacturers had lots of problems with the material being very hard to work with (braking their needles and blunting their scissors :) )so the 2015 version will not be made with this tough material.

I've got the 2014 Badlands pro Pant and they are indeed bomb proof. I actually prefer the cut of the lighter 2015 model so if you ever want to swap a 2015 34 long for a 2014, I'm your man.

Unfortunately I can only dream about a 34 fitting me, 36 is nice and snug. I'm looking at a pair of the pre 2015 but at a price that can't be ignored.
