So I’ve still got the orignal box from my old 1150. It shed its input splines in the usual manner. By chance I found a box from an R model which got the bike going, and after a few thousands miles to prove it was a goodun I sold the bike.
The box is now taking up space, so it needs to go. Just wondering what it’s worth?
The box had only done a bit over 30k, and is cosmetically pretty good bar a datatag code etched into it.

What's the code written on the side of the box.

It will indicate the gearing ratios, ie type of box, which might be useful to someone.

If noone wants to buy it, why not take it apart yourself and see if you can figure out how to reassemble it correctly? Not worth much to anyone here it seems, but could be a good way to further your own knowledge without risk. That way if your working gearbox ever develops a fault, you may be able to fix it yourself instead of paying someone else to do it?

I have 2 knackered boxes here, and when I run out of more pressing projects, im going to try and put together one good box out of the two bad.

I gave my last one away to Chad as a donor gearbox for his Low First/ High Top hybrid.

The three letter code near the serial number on the RHS of the casing near the front would be useful to know, as it helps to identify the internals...

Hi, I have a 1150 gearbox that looks to have had very little use with the numbers 0001470JAJ . I am thinking of selling it but would like to know what ratio it has. Can anyone here help me on this please. Thanks

EVO Silver Sport.

EVO means it has different gear teeth to standard boxes
Silver is the paint colour
And
Sport means it has the lower 6th gear. The 1st gear will be standard.
1 = 2.05
2 = 1.06
3 = 1.27
4 = 1.03
5 = 0.90
6 = 0.81

OK Thank you, but the different gear teeth ? what was the need for this.

Manufacturing upgrade.

The EVO gear boxes (post 2003) have narrower gears with a deeper profile. There were some other internal gearbox modifications carried out as well with the EVO upgrade. It made the gear box a little lighter.

It's hard to know the real reason, but I suspect that the next generation of bikes (R1200) were in design and possibly the post 2003 R1150 bikes were a trial testing ground for some of the next generation improvements. Post 2003 the R1150 series had Servo ABS brakes and Twin spark fitted which were to appear on the R1200. So maybe the gear boxes were improved as a part of this.

Adding the blunt edge... If it needs reconnig then its only worth something whole if you have this done via mikeyboy etc... At the mo its only worth anything in bits if they are ok...

1150 G/box

Mr. Hartley, Thank you for all your info. very interesting . I have now got the box in pieces and as I expected it is in excellent condition.

No ideas from anyone as to what an old box with stripped input splines is worth then?

Not much if your looking for a box with good input splines..

A few bob if your looking for a box with fecked input splines.....

it's how the market works.
