Knackered Bleed Screw

I was just trying to bleed the back brake on my 1150GS (Brembo Calipers) as I haven't done it for a good 12 months. Irritatingly the bleed screw has rusted and sheared inside the brake caliper. It's not an immediate massive problem as it's sheared in the closed position and the brake still functions fine. My question is:

Does anyone have some advice on removing the rusted sheared screw? If I can get it out is it as easy as just putting a new one or should I start looking for a new rear caliper.

You could get it drilled out.

You could also use a stud extractor but these seem to be more headache than they are worth.

Have a chat with Steptoe - I think he has a few spare used calipers which you could pick up for a decent price.

Oh dear easy outs or drill nightmare I've done it before best option is to get 2nd hand caliper

dont bother, you can simply get a replacement banjo bolt which has a bleed screw in it, used for such situations as this, they cost about 5 or 6 quid as I recall.

Left hand drill bit and then very carefully use a proper screw extractor.

The rear caliper has an 17mm head insert into which the bleed nipple screws, buy a new insert and bleed nipple.

Get the insert BUT apply heat to the old one the last two I had in had thread lock !!!

No heat = Torn alloy threads and a fecked calliper
