Try replacing them with Hiprotec from Hein Gericke.

Know what you mean - thay are a little snug on me and can irritate after a while - but vanity and safety get the better of me and they are staying - interested to know HG do an alternative though...

Me too!

Me Too!

I've had a pair of Dainese off-road trousers for years, and they've got full armour, and very comfortable, but no Goretex, so I bought a pair of Ralleye 2 trousers. They're so bloody uncomfortable on the knees!

Do the Gericke ones fit straight in? Are they a real improvement?

The Hiprotec is flexible, made of a rubber compound. You can buy it in various shapes and sizes, and you can trim it with scissors if it doesn't quite fit. It comes with press-studs to hold it in place.

It's extremely effective - I've road-tested it several times.

Hip - Hip hooray for hiprotec from me. Changed a couple of months ago - more comfortable and less cold imho.

Worth trying one set first, even if you use in different parts of clothing

Which ones do you have/suggest? Is there a mail order supplier?

Thanks for the info.

"They can be fixed in position in 3 intelligent ways" mm are they computerised as well?

You might need the armour Will if you are still planning on doing the enduro on Sunday ;)

Agree with Steve. Nice and flexible and were rated in a Ride test last year or so to absorb more energy per weight/size/religion etc. then most armour.
They used to demo the absorbancy in the shops by having a 'superball' made of it. Dropped it from full stretch onto the counter and was asked how high I thought it would bounce. It virtually hit the surface and didn't!

Its not just me then
I found the knee pads on the R2 trousers uncomfortable. Went back to SLM and complained. He convinced me to stick with it. They are now bearable. I moved the pads around a few times to get them right.

The other complaints are
1) The little pull tag on the jacket zip fell off as did the replacement
2) The zip on the jacket has opened from the bottom several times
Apart from that it is a brilliant bit of kit. :thumb

I would say that having forked out so much

Oh yes and the cord to hang the jacket up broke straightway. The jacket was obviously too heavy for it.
I must be a :tosser to still like it.
