I was impressed with the Knox back protector @ the NEC. Does anyone own one?

Wearing an earlier version during some recent acrobatics on a track day .

bottom line is the leathers took a massive beating from the collar of my suit to the back of my thigh I broke my right heel left ankle and have buggered my left knee.

the point of all this detail is that when I stopped going earth sky earth sky all I remeber thinking was Feck me my feet hurt then thinking thank feck I can feel it .........cant be all bad news :thumb :thumb

Buy One inbuilt ones in Jackets aint long enough to protect the parts that get hammered

IMHO :)

Haven't tried the Knox- i use a Dainese suit offroad...but one thing I reckon's really important id make damn sure it's comfy....put it on and wear it as long as you can before buying....bend in it, twist, sit, make sure it doesn't dig in anywhere when you do a lifesaver glance etc etc.....
If it ain't comfy to wear, you'll end up not wearing it, simple as that.

Good point, I found the Knox to stiff and felt like it restricted me, especially the belt, which is high up and not very long  needed an extension.
The Forcefield will just fold up as well; so can go in the pannier.

I bought a Knox Ricochet at the show to replace my Knox race which isn't suited to a GS. The bloke there refused to sell a Knox stowaway said in his opinion they weren't that good.

Looked at the Knox myself with the intention to buy, but saw these at the NEC http://www.tprobodyarmour.co.uk/ff_back.html very impressed, very comfi, cheaper, highest spec out, at the moment and Ride recommended winner.

Bought two ;) got to keep the pillion happy. :D

Cheers Les, what did you pay if you don't mind me asking? The Knox is £100 before any discount (cheers Mike :thumb )

I've used a Knox stowaway for years now and don't go out without it. I came off my blackbird 18 months ago and the only thing I can remember clearly is rolling down the road thinking "This back protector really works". I tried the forcefield at the NEC and whilst it may have scored better in the ride test it doesn't cover as much as the knox does. I think the important thing though is to get one that fits and is comfortable cos otherwise you wont use it.

Got mine of ebay, can post the mail to see if he has any more, or buy direct from the link, there £69.99 I think.

The problem I found with the Knox is it felt like a plank, they let me try one on and then get on the bikes they had on the stand, but the tail bit was really long and made me lean foward.

Which ever one fits the best would be the one to go for, Knox is still good kit, but for me the Forcefield won.

Most back protectors are designed with sports bike riding in mind. So the Coccyx bit tends to stick into the seat when you are in billy bolt upright mode on a GS. Still wear a dainese one though! I recon the knox one has better shoulder protection. Went backwards up a kerb @ 50-60 mph on a trackday after a lowside and recon I'd have done some back or shoulder damage without it. As it was i was right as rain! :)

That reminds me - I've got an old Knox back protector in my bedroom. I never wear it so if anyones interested I'll sell it £50. Cambridge area if you want to pick it up.

Back Protector

I too got one on e-bay and it did the buisness in a recent off :thumb

All The Gear All The Time :clap :clap

Whilst I feel a fool asking this, I know you won't take the piss :nenau

If it sticks out below the bottom of the jacket, do you wear it outside your trousers? Lucky that you can feel warm and safe inside to counteract it looking so odd.

In or Out

Tuck it in Jimbo. If it catches/snags when you fall it could make things worse. Same goes for the back protector to

I bought the Knox Contour today and it tucks neatly into my BMW street guard suit. Feels comfortable as does the extra piece of mind.

Thx for all the responses.
