traser

Yes, the kobold looks good, but i'm going to opt for a new traser. They seem to come highly recommended.

Waveceptor

I need a watch at work that keeps very accurate time and as such work buy my watches. Which are casio waveceptors, the last one i got ive had for 4 years and has not missed a beat and still going strong. I'm office based so does not need to be rugged as such however the g-shock solar waveceptors are rugged, don't need battery changes, very very accurate and less than 200 quid.

if you want to tell the time accurately they will beat any of yer top models unless they sink to the rugby time signal as well, if you take cost into account theres no competition.

Have a look at

Posh version of the casio is the citizen Skyhawk radio series.

Not sure if these are the cheapest in town.

This is how accurate they are....if yer sad gives you something to talk about with Breitling owners. :augie

Radio controlled watches and clocks recieve a time signal from a radio transmitter tuned to a caesium or 'Atomic Clock'. The atomic clock is the standard measure of time: the electron resonance frequency of the Caesium 133 atom is 9,192,631,770 cycles per second which is measured to give a time accurate to greater than +/- 1 second per million years. The transmitter signal is picked up by the watch or clock and sets the time and date automatically.

unfortunately watches aren't about keeping time.

They have to look nice too.

i'd rather not look like a geek :thumb

or have anything thats too 'fussy'

beauty is in the eye of the beholder :thumb

one of these are my daily wearer, with saphire crystal, only had it 3 years though, but no scratches on the crystal and i am rough with watches

These look good. I wanted to get the US military version of that watch but they were going for silly money (US$500).

I might get one of these as they look like a good replica. Much nicer than the official US licensee one.

I found a UK website for these Trasers .. I wonder if they are legit? :nenau

Novice, I bought the Traser P6500 from the boys at Telford Services who supply our military boys. Price was £230 and that included a leather strap as well as the standard one. I recently changed the strap for the link one in the following pics. It's a genuine Traser and comes with the full warranty and the night time illumination us unreal... Much better than any other illuminated watches I've come accross. It's the reason I bought it as I do a lot of work through the night in dimly lit surroundings.

Got myself one of these a few years ago, hasn't missed a beat. Was in the accident with me and was kicked around the floor of the air ambulance for a couple of weeks before it was returned safely to me. Simple and doesn't look like a Halfords store on my wrist. I would recommended them to anyone.:thumb2

After 5yrs daily use - I've no doubt this watch will out live me. If I make it to 90yrs old it will have cost me £22 a year.

Deduct inflation and thats dam good value to have quality time on your wrist. You won't be able to buy a watch then for £22 a year.

Sure my Son will have his use out of it after me.

Does it not require a service every couple of years though?

Another vote for the Omega Seamaster. Buy one secondhand from a reputable dealer and it'll come ready serviced. Mine was less than half retail price and only 11 months old. 3 years daily use and it's unmarked and keeps good time. Shame that bugger Bond wears one though!

Curiosity killed the cat:

What kind of jobs are there where the Employer issues a watch for the Employee (apart from Astronaut....) ?

get a good Seiko, one with a saphire crystal, they will be as good as any expensive watch, and look more dressy, less butch than tool watches :thumb

good sites, if your interested in watches

I think that you can drop on with a good watch, if you do your homework and depending on what you like steers you in a particular direction ( looks, functionality, reliability tough as F**k)

I bought a Rolex sea dweller 5 years ago, before that I had a sea master (good watch also) and have worn it every day, diving, surfing, playing footie, cycling working covered in crap, paint, oil etc ( I basically never take it off ) and it is bullet proof. six months ago I took it into the local jewellers and had it cleaned for 25 quid and it is now looks good as new, it isn't bling and offensive as some breitlings can be, it looks good and you can have confidence in its reliability. They also don't loose a great deal in value as some top end watches can. Basically Its like a stainless steel baby G

My dad wears a sekio Kinetic and swears by his the way I do with mine

Don't have a service unless there is something wrong !

I was talking to a guy who used to work at Rolex Service in Bexley. His view was that you should not service a watch unless

a) It was damaged and the back or face had to be removed
b) It was not keeping good time
c) You had money to burn

My Submariner is 12 years old, worn nearly everyday and keeps good time. It is scratched and bashed and I like that look. Never serviced.
