BMW Motorrad bietet für den BMW Motorrad Systemhelm 6 ein weiterentwickeltes Kommunikationssystem an, das im Spätsommer 2009 auf den Markt kommen wird. Die BMW Motorrad Kommunikationsanlage ermöglicht die drahtlose Sprachverbindung zwischen 2 Helmen und weiteren Bluetooth-Komponenten wie Navigationssystem, Mobiltelefon oder MP3-Player. Das neue System basiert jetzt auf dem Bluetooth-Standard 2.0 und bietet eine nochmals komfortablere Kommunikation.

Insbesondere die Zusammenarbeit mit dem BMW Motorrad Navigator IV wurde mit dem neuen System weiter verbessert. Ansagen des BMW Motorrad Navigators IV hört der Fahrer beispielsweise während einer Unterhaltung von Helm zu Helm jetzt ohne, dass das Gespräch unterbrochen wird. Bisher wurde dazu die Interkom Verbindung unterbrochen. Ferner wurden bestimmte Signaltöne und Funktionen des Kommunikationssystems durch Klartextansagen in englischer Sprache ergänzt. Abgesehen vom Navigationssystem kann jeder der beiden Helme mit jeweils einem Musikgerät, sowie einem Mobiltelefon gekoppelt werden, vorausgesetzt diese sind Bluetooth-kompatibel.

Die neue BMW Motorrad Kommunikationsanlage ist mechanisch speziell auf den BMW Motorrad Systemhelm 6 zugeschnitten. Das Steuermodul mit den 3 Bedientasten ist so geformt, dass es sich optimal an die Kontur des neuen BMW Motorrad Helms anpasst. Es ist – analog zur Helmschale – in 2 Größen lieferbar. Selbstverständlich entsprechen auch alle anderen Komponenten wie Mikrofon-Halter und Zugentlastung der Geometrie des BMW Motorrad Systemhelms 6, so dass die neue Kommunikationsanlage einfach und problemlos eingebaut werden kann. Für die Energieversorgung des Systems sind NiMH-Akkus zuständig, die eine Dauerbetriebszeit von 10 bis 12 Stunden ermöglichen.

Das BMW Motorrad Kommunikationssystem ist vorrangig zur Kommunikation zwischen Fahrer und Beifahrer konzipiert. Trotzdem ist die Unterhaltung von Motorrad zu Motorrad mit gewissen Einschränkungen möglich. Je nach Fahrsituation kann die Anlage bei direkter Sichtverbindung zwischen 30 und 100 m Entfernung überbrücken. Das ist in vielen Fahrsituationen durchaus ausreichend. Diese Funktion ist jedoch von den Umgebungsbedingungen abhängig.

If you've got a Zumo 500/550 you can get a headset ( with boom mike) to fit the System 6 from Tecstar Electronics for £45. The slimline earlpiece pads Velcro into the side of the helmet and the boom mike has a spade fitting that slides under the lining of the open face section of the helmet. You can get a system with a mike that sticks to the flip up, but there are issues with the cable runs, On the Zumo it gives you access to turn directions, Bluetooth mobile phone connection and MP3 player. It doesn't give you bike to bike.

Looking at the price of the BMW system it makes the Scala Rider look cheap!

Does this Tecstar need a Starcom or does it connect to Zumo with bluetooth?
