Hi All,

Looking into buying a pair of Kriega US20 daypacks. I own an R1200 GS LC (K50) and already have a full set of vario luggage, Now when me and my other half will be going away I know from experience that just varios will not hold all the kit we will need to take with us.:blast

Now, the question I have is. Has anybody attempted at mounting Kriega US20 (evenUS10 or US30) on top of the vario panniers? I was thinking straps all the way around the pannier, but that may fail on the exhaust side, I thought of some kind of loops fixed to the panniers them self but I do not want to drill holes in to the panniers. I basically want and need and secure solution where my other half can still be comfortable as a pinion but not being worried that anything may just become loose and come off. I recently been away with someone who has got a pair of LOMO bags strapped to his GSA ally panniers using bungies, however i do not have the luxury of metal paneer frames or loops i can bungie things to.

Anyway, any advice will be helpful and if anybody has done it then a photo or two would be helpfull.

Regards

EV

I bought Wunderlich Bagpacker to go on top of side cases, they don`t bother passenger and good quality.

Ditch the top box and strap a medium 70L north face bag onto the back of the bike and across the top of the cases with rok straps. Water proof to boot. I've yet to buy paniers; I either use a Kriega 20/30 or the Northface depending on the time away.

Get the GSA top box/ mount, and you can strap the Kreiga on the top, back or sides. The extra capability to strap stuff to it will make up for its smaller size.:thumb

Not done this myself, but am thinking that you could get some Velcro or 3M self-adhesive pads or strips, stick them to the panniers and either buy (if they exist) straps with Velcro or sew it onto the Kriega straps. Being fixed on the sides of the panniers would mean that the pads/strips would not easily pull off because the forces would be parallel to the pads, but could still be removed after use without damage to the panniers.

Just a suggestion.

When I want to strap any thing on the back of the bike I use these......... http://www.rockycreekdesigns.eu/straps
Not cheap but great bit of kit, seriously strong silicone elastic doesn't damage the paint work and a lifetime guarentee. The strap can be hooked back on itself to adjust the length.
I love things that do the job they are supposed to do properly and this is one of them, much stronger than bungees.

If you only want two extra bags. Get the tank bra so you can mount one on the tank and strap the other to the top box? Tried the tank mount on a 9 day trip just recently and it worked great!

Might give it a go as best solution yet, however it doe mean ill have to leave my tank bag at home.

Sticking things to my bike is a big no no for me, It has to be a semi permanent solution that doesn't make my bike look like a rally goers bike. Thank you for your input.

The cost of GSA setup and kriega bags will not warrant it for me TBH. To save my self bother, next time ill buy GSA. Thank you

Will not work with Vario Panniers as these do not have metal loops.

Thank you

They do work with Vairo panniers as well as the metal panniers. They come with a strong velcro and straps and fit nicely on my Vairos.

Seems like a good excuse to change your bike now, to be honest!:D

Anyone know the best place to buy a kriega us20? All seem to be about the same price £75.
