Kryptonite lock stuck.

So my mate took the advice from the collective here and jiggled the key in the lock and then tapped it with a hammer. It worked and the lock popped open. Thanks to everyone for the help.

Now puff a little graphite powder in the lock, to help it staying smooth.

How to Use Graphite Lubricant
  1. Clean: If possible, blow out existing dust with compressed air.
  2. Apply: Squeeze a small amount of powder into the keyhole or onto the key.
  3. Distribute: Insert the key and turn it back and forth several times to coat the internal pins.
  4. Clean Up: Wipe away any excess powder to prevent buildup

Also have a look, down inside the barrel, to see how the individual leaf parts are neatly inline. Keep them that way.

:beerjug:

PS Do not use WD40. It leaves a sticky residue, which attracts dust and dirt. This detritus jams the leaf parts.

And if you don't have graphite powder with you (as was my situation in Kyrgystan 2 years ago) then apparently you could use shavings from a pencil lead....

So why do locksmiths and lock suppliers provide graphite powder and I know my locks which are from Uliton, the guarantee states you must only use graphite to keep your locks in good condition :)
I'm with you on this, graphite POWDER is the answer for sticky locks of all descriptions. I use it from ignition to the garage defender lock.Never had an issue and always smooth the lock/key operation.

The writing was on the wall that someone would post this advice at some point...

I am a bit late to the party but Fuchs make a product which is most most excellent for locks and sticky things

Fucks Silkopen it's a graphite enriched penetrating oil and was my go-to product for the sticky 1150 GS ignition switches
