There's very little rhyme or reason to insurance companies.

My mate lives about a mile away from me. We have two bikes each that are almost identical.

Similar ages. He pays nearly double me for one bike, and I pay nearly double him on the other!

If another car hits you and is judged as completely at fault, with the payment coming from their side, your insurance can still subsequently rise when you come to renew as you’ve been in an accident and are therefore regarded as a higher risk in their algorithms. That’s a very imperfect system!

I’m really tempted by this now that I have the ‘joy’ of a commute into Oxford. As I’m 6’4 it wouldn’t feel like a mini moto either. Whats the insurance like on these? I’ve not ridden since Covid times so I’d have zero experience in terms of recent bike insurance history.

I suspect in the region of £350—£550 fully comp. Mine 1290 SAS is nearer £550 as I am inside the M25. High risk area apparently

That's because statistically, people involved in no fault accidents are more inclined to go on to have more accidents. Perhaps they are not very good at avoidance stratergies?

Depends what it is. My parked car got hit by someone three times over the limit. I’d definitely not say I was inclined to have accidents! Statistics only make sense when used correctly. Most people have more than the average number of legs….
