I heard from a dealer today that KTM profits fell from £5m to a debt of nearly £90m!!

Talks of possible need for a take over in future:eek:

That's not good news!

They seem to have an OK product I suppose and making a loss could be expected but a £95m swing is shocking.

oh shit if that is true and sad news. Wonder where they went wrong?

Their products seem to be so cool, and you don't hear much major failures on them.

That x bow thing I suppose could account for some of that loss.

Play thing for excess times.

Whilst a 450EXC is a play thing even in tough times

I read a business article about a year ago listing the 10 most likely international 'well known' companies to go bust. I seem to remember KTM were number 7.

I'd love to visit that parallel universe where there they said 'Yes' to Ewan and Charlie.

All details on their website - They are a traded company so everything has to be transparent.

Looks like they had a restructuring that cost them a fair few quid - not many redundancies so far though, the stock markets are suggesting a 'hold' or a 'buy' on their shares so they obviously have faith that it is transitory.

I wouldn't worry too much about them going under- still got over 480Million Eur on the books with strong sales.

Was this a KTM dealer? If so a bit of a strange thing to be talking about to anyone, possible customer or not.

I read that ktm used 60million 0f their future and present profits in the Xbow the idea was that all the circuits were to have a six or so of the cars for executive track days with service packages included , after being shown alot of interest from UK and European circuits they went ahead with design and production ,as things got on the way lots of them pulled out only a small amount of orders were filled .Hence a large debt. Shame theres alot of this these days .

No, it was a Husaberg dealer seriously thinking of pulling out and switching to a medium size player where there's less corporate bullshit that's increased no end from the likes of KTM.

Take a look in a KTM dealer these days, they have to stock all the clothes. They also have to stock a whole range of bikes in numbers dictaded by KTM, so even though the dealer may be able to sell eg. 450exc's till the cows come home, they'll only be supplied with a small quota, the rest being bikes which KTM 'think' we should buy....sound familiar?

It seems KTM have invested (borrowed) heavily at a time when their sales (along with most bike manufacturers) have seriously declined.

IMO KTM made a mistake over LWA, it didn't matter if the bikes were not up to it, which if they can complete the dakar, well no brainer and if they didn't they could have easily disguised the errors like BM...

...around the world with an A list and Z list actor should be not much of a prob and look what BM did based on it.

Probably be bought over by BM or Porsche/VW...and make boxer engines..:D

Plus, how much did they spend developing that stupid car that no-one will ever buy:nenau
