Dear all

Book your bike, any bike, in for a service, to be completed this week (25th to 30th January) and we'll charge you just £50 plus vat, per hour for the labour. Compare that to your typical Dealer and you'll be saving close to £20 per hour. Compare that to a 'big city' Dealer and that could represent a saving of nearly £50. PER HOUR!

Please mention this thread when calling to book or to get a quote for your bike.

Seriously though, we are normally priced a little lower than our competitors anyway but now at nearly £50 less (per hour...) than some Dealers I could mention, you could save enough on a major service to pay for a weeks holiday somewhere sunny!

I reckon most of my 8 Beemers are older than your Mechanic/Technicians :):rob

Six from '52 to '75, with two in the '80's

Meanwhile,away from La-La Land,

Compare it to buying a service kit and doing the job yerself at home in an hour or two and you`ll see that in any of the three examples above you`re being right royally reamed. :augie

With the exception of "being right royally reamed" (cos we certainly don't get up to that sort of thing!), you make a very fair point. It's almost certainly possible to do pretty much anything cheaper yourself, provided you have the tools and the know how. However, some people (myself included) prefer to get professionals in to do some things. I like to drink coffee at one of the countless number of coffee shops, I quite like to eat out at a good restaurant and whilst I'm quite capable, I'd be quite happy to pay for someone to do all the painting and decorating! All of which would be much cheaper if i stayed at home and made my own coffee, cooked my own meal and, well, you get the idea.

So hats off to you for being able to service your own bike. really. But, for anyone who doesnt know how to look after their ABS brake system, anyone unsure how to adjust the valve clearances, anyone needing their machine to be checked for the latest recalls, or for anyone who just fancies chatting to a friendly bunch of guys and having a cup or two of good coffee whilst you wait or taking a ride on one of the latest machines, browsing the rider equipment, surfing the internet for free, taking time out from the 'missus', escaping down to 'the bike shop', getting your book stamped, preserving your sanity.........well, thats what we are here for.

And, at the moment, all for just a little bit less than before.

One has a choice. So I can't see why it is being reamed.
 
It appears that a lot of people want to have a local dealer for their make of machine..................... but then go on to deride the prices charged and carry out all the maintenance work themselves.

Strangely - I think you will find that quite a lot of those folk also deride those who choose to save themselves £12 for the annual subscription on this site.......... :nenau

If you don't toss the dealers a bone every once in a while - don't complain when the dealer closes. Then when your fuel pump controller, or EWS fails - you can drive 100 miles to find a new one............... :rob

Glad to see a bit of balance developed on this thread. As has been stated there certainly is a choice. Where does one draw the line on being 'reamed'?

Out of interest, for those who feel that a dealer service is being reamed is there anything else out there that you pay someone else to do that you could do yourselves; otherwise you'll be being 'reamed' elsewhere.

Pay for a pint? Reamed. Brew your own, far cheaper.
Paid for a coffee at a coffee bar. Reamed. Get Mellow Birds from the poundshop.

And so on, etc etc etc.
 
I`m a baker, I can`t do mechanics,£50 sounds good money to pay to me, too know I don't have to faf about with tools and oil and stuff.

I should think after Rent Rates Tax etc £10 clear so its more like £10 a hour.

Now are you or would you be happy to run a workshop for £10
 
Well I think its a great price compared too most other main Dealers :thumb2

I brought my 07 GSA back in 07 from Ocean and I my self have found that they can never do enough for me or any one else I have seen in there. :clap

To be honest this is the only bike or car come too that, since passing my tests back in 82/83 that I have ever taken too a garage or dealer for any thing other than an Mot. I like to think that I am more than capable of servicing this bike like many others before it and as well as my car's my self :rolleyes: But this bike I choose to be serviced at the main dealer were I purchased it.

And to cap it all :rob I had my 24K service carried out by Ocean to the end of last year. And what with work and shit weather not clocked up much mileage on the bike :blast So 30k service out of offer time. Well so I thought until I mentioned this too them and true to form.
"No problem Sir, We will carry out your 30k service at the discounted rate"
