Hi

Have got a week off end august,Going to cadwell park for BSB for three days Travelling On the bike,I would then like to visit lake district area, is there enough to keep my wife and me occupied for three or four days, (staying in hotels for duration) then travel back to sussex at the weekend,Some advice would be very helpful for must things to see apart from the Lakes as only short time up in the area.

It depends on what you're looking for to know if there's enough for you to do. A few days will be easy to fill (weather depending:augie) the roads and views alone are worth the effort, this should help:thumb2

The Lakes are stunningly pretty, but don't offer particularly good riding (although the Wrynose, Hardknott, Honister and Kirkstone passes are a must as the GS was built for them). The traffic can also be horrendous on a weekend. The North Pennines, Borders and Yorkshire Dales are all nearby and offer better riding (and the Dales are just as pretty).

You should not need a second visit to get around it all!

I have been there a few times and normally stay around Penrith so you have lakes to South and Scottish Borders to the North.

The are around Kielder Water is very nice, from Penrith go over the Alston Pass (not a bad ride) and then take off into the unclassified roads around Kielder.

The A592 through patterdale is nice with some great views and has FAR less traffic than the A591 (avoid like the plague, tourist central and always congested)

The Journey from Cadwell is good too, once past Leeds turn off and head for Rippon, Hawes and on to Sedburgh this takes you across Yorkshire Dales, again not exactly the Alps, but very pleasant and relatively uncongested. If staying at Penrith go over motorway and work up the aforementioned A592 to Penrith.

Stayed here a few times, just off M6 at edge of Penrith, close to everything with Penrith being a quick taxi ride if you fancy a drink, on a little lane with off-road parking. Not stayed there for a few years now but was good value in the past:

Somewhere on the eastern edge of the Lake District would make a decent base for 2-4 days but don't restrict yourself just to the National Park - Cumbria has another part east of the M6 which leads into some excellent motorcycling roads as others say.

I've been looking for somewhere in the area for a place to stay next month and this place stands out. I've been to the area before, stopping in Sedbergh but this place looks ideal and has a pub next door (pub has rooms too).

Place was right on the bus line, so a ride into town was fast, cheap and easy, too. Stayed here for three nights as I rode around the Lakes. I thinkI paid right at 55 quid per night. Free internet and breakfast as well.
