I have a 1150 Adv used mainly on dirt tracks often at night it came as new with the MBW Aux lights fitted. I have a Migsel bar to which I could fit spots and fogs.
I beleive the OEM things are a little on the weak side but am a little concerned that if the Migsel Bar is fitted as it mounts to the oil cooler radiator mounts that a spill with the solid bar may well damage the bike badly enough to disable it.
Opinions welcome

I can only speak from personal experiance, I managed to highside my first GS, it had a MiGSel bar and two sets of FF50 lights fittted at the time.

The total repair bill was over £2k, so you can understand the amount of damage. The amazing thing was that the lights were not even broken!

The point I am trying to make is that in my accident, 40mph to ground zero in a split second, neither the bar or the lights made contact with the road??

Dont ask me how, mind?

I may have been lucky, if thats what you call lucky????

BTBR

Not as fast as BTBR but when offroading the other week I took two spills.

I have the Migsel light bar with Micro DE's and FF50 fitted.

The first spill was a slow off/drop into soft mud and the lights made no contact with the mud as they were clean. The second was a 15mph slide where the front wheel lost traction and went from underneath me and I had to jump clear and leave the bike sliding on it's side.... again no contact or damage.

I do however have the H&B crash bars that took the brunt and that does give the bike more clearance in a spill. If I didn't have the crashbars..... well I will never know. :D

I managed to severly dent the rear wing of a car with mine. No damage to the bike or lights other than a small scrape. Car needed about £1000 of repairs, I needed a new light bar (bent it in the process), a new head cover and some minor scrapes where I ended up sliding down the road.
