!LAMPF Error Notification

I have a 2008 GS and had the same problem for about a year until a few months ago. Lampf is a failure of a front light, Lampr is a rear light failure and Lamps is one front and rear fault. My lampf used to appear on start up most times but not all, and only if the ignition was turned on with the kill switch in the run position. If the kill switch is in the off position, the bike doesn't do a self test and doesn't register the fault. The problem I had was if Lampf came up, dipped beam would not work when the bike started as on those bikes, the dip beam only works when the engine is running. To cut a long story short, after replacing the dipped beam bulb with no effect, taken to a Bmw shop for a proper fault diagnosis via their machine which didn't show anything at the time, and hours trawling the internet for divine intervention, I eventually found one comment that said the problem could be the connector going into the headlight unit (not the back of the bulb connectors) The next time the dipped beam didn't work, I jiggled the connector and the light flashed on and off! After removing the plug, there were 3 or 4 TINY little push connectors that needed a tiny screwdriver about the same size as a pin to bend the connector tabs a bit to tighten them up. After that was done, it has never failed for me since! (Fingers crossed) So it may be worth you checking those connections. Good luck Steve

I got to the bottom of it. The fan has stopped working. The LED must be over heating and turning itself off. That should be an easy replacement. At least it’s not the whole unit. £££ Thanks everyone for helping me out. Much appreciated.
