Landrover 101 Forward control, 1976. For sale as part of a deceased estate.
Bought by a friend who was a life long Landrover fanboi in 2018, this was the best 101 he could find. LHD and originally exported to France, it was imported back to the UK in 2018.
It has been subject to a comprehensive renovation and is as clean on the underside as it is on the inside. It was fitted with power steering at significant expense which makes it significantly easier to manoeuvre at low speeds. The V8 and transmission are smooth and everything works as it should including the winch. The speedo shows 39K kilometres which looking at the overall condition of the vehicle I would guess is genuine. It comes with a British motor industry heritage certificate. It gets a lot of attention wherever it goes. My only criticism is the V8 is too quiet but the new owner could soon alter that if they wished!

Spent 6 months in the Falkland Islands negotiating some seriously gnarly terrain in one of these bad boys. Portal axle like ground clearance with those rims.

Thanks for kind words guys. Its a bitter sweet exerience sorting all his stuff out. Nice to get things out and sorted but pretty upsetting at the same time. Hopefully it will go to someone who will actually use it as Mick did as opposed to it just sitting in a collection.

Bloody gorgeous and mot/tax exempt too.

Bit thirsty and I doubt the Mrs would be overjoyed however.

I had a converted S1 with a v8 and that was a total hoot :)

What’s the asking price?

Oops, ignore that, I’ve just seen it in the title. 😂😂

If you want to/need to sell to a trader, you could speak to John Brown Land Rover at Thirsk. I bought from them a few years ago and had decent service.

Thanks for the comments guys. There have been a couple of people who have expressed a genuine interest so I'm pretty confident it will sell privately. Its on Car and Classic now too but at a slightly higher price.

Horizons Unlimited worth a go as well, that would make a cracking trans Africa vehicle with a little conversion inside. A slow meander to Cape Town having the trip of a lifetime.

Funny you should mention that as I bought a mint low mileage 4X4 Daf T244 for that kind of trip, it isnt going to happen now so Horizons unlimited may be a good call for them both(y)
