LANDS END TRIAL

Tell us some more - good on yer for having a go :thumb

Chris Emerson and I entered THE LANDS END TRIAL, lots of time sorting stuff out bike etc,

On leaving AIRHEAD played up lights or something, couldn`t risk journey so took GS 1150, at the start I had to waver my entry because of WRONG tyres, should have been TORANCES but had very worn TK80`s.

Both managed to clean trial ( no feet down, I think ) all through night 12.15am - 2.30pm SATURDAY, both managed BLUE HILLS 2 but I dropped it feet from finish, due to all sorts of things, CAMBER, KIDS everywhere, bad signs poor marshalling etc blar blar, but not alot did as the put a bit in at the end to trick folks.

Apparently one of the best MG Drivers of years rolled his open top old MG and so did a few others and hes really kicking off.

But THE HILL doesnt count in trial as a fun bit, entered in O CLASS, so GOLD but not as wrong tyres not that they helped much

NEXT YEAR :D

X marks where I lost balence and dropped bike
BLACK LINE is the FINISH

....and this is what Blue Hills 2 looks like  ! We both cleared to the top, where you can see the crowds, but decided to save the unsighted wicked cutback for next year ;) . You can see in the above photo where Bakes "paused" to sign autographs.

Wish I'd known about this, would have liked a go. :thumb Next time let me know in advance! :)

I'd like to have a go at this next year, we should get a group together for it. I have lots of medals at home from the 1920s when my Grandma used to ride for BSA and competed in these long distance trials.

Here's another view of the top of Blue Hills, someone I used to know from a few years ago (route seems to have changed slightly)

Just a little steep :D

Good on ya for doing it, Bakes and Chris :thumb It's a looooooooong night in a car, let alone on a bike. :bow

Did these MCC events for years .Haven't done one for 10 years or more.Last one I did was in a ford anglia estate.Cleared Blue Hills 2 too!!Got a gold on my '81 R80G/S (which I wish I still had).Don't miss the sleepless nights and the shite breakfasts along the route though!!! Once did the whole event on a bike with only the side light working. It blew not long after scrutineering.Rode the night time stuff using a hand held torch i was carrying for roadside repairs.I must've been completely mad............ :D

....................and the snow falling over the moors at 3 am, and the pea souper mists, and sheep lying in the road waiting to have you off yer bike. :mmmm
Try the Exeter trial, 1st weekend in the new year, thats the one for real men. :thumb

Well done Bakerman :thumb I have been doing MCC trials for about 10 years but I don’t think I would try the main trail on a G/S but there are a few brave people out there that do I do them on an old twin shock XT500 or a Triumph 500 outfit but I didn’t do the Lands end this year But hope to be in the Exeter next year so I might see you there :dabone

Erm.........Bob.............wot's with those pink boots ? :ymca :D

There’s nothing wrong with pink boots ;)
And they were very cheep for some reason they couldn’t sell them
Mind you the bastard things didn’t stop my ankle braking but then with out proper boots on I might have ripped my foot right off which would have been fun
