Hi Folks,

Heading up from the Peaks to Hadrians Wall for a few days walking next week and fancy doing a few green lanes on the way up and back. We'll kind of be following the Pennines on the way up in a kind of Halifax-Skipton-Wharfedale-Hawes-Buttertubs Pass-Thwaite-Brough-Middleton in Teesdale-Alston-Haltwhistle direction, finishing at Once Brewed.
Looking for some easy lanes around that general route. Quite happy to make detours for good lanes but will be travelling in 4x4s not on GS and one is a bit of a soft roader so please bear that in mind when suggesting lanes:thumb

Garmin waypoints or OS grid ref plus OS sheet no's much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ian

There ain,t many lanes left open.Yorkshire dales have been one of the most hard hit areas,in april it looks like a further 8 to 10 lanes will be permantly shut. Most we do,are bike route,s only.So its looking very grim.

There is a great lane for soft roaders opposite once brewed follow the tarmac to NY 722 712 go north 2 Kms then road turns north east for 1.5 Kms nice and easy for a soft roader. there are quite a few nice lanes in the area but it would end up a longlist.

if your staying at Once brewed take a walk to Twice brewed the pub has real ales on and does good food.

Thanks Brian, we are actually staying at the Twice Brewed:thumb2 been going there for years on and off but never even thought about off roading up there before. Know about the one near the village but was hoping to do a fair bit of the run up from the Peaks off tarmac, from what Basil says it looks like that is not going to happen:( bloody ramblers and incompetent politicians buggering things up for anyone wanting a bit of fun:spitfire
At least the walking and drinking should still be a laugh, for now anyway:beerjug:
