Could a Lap of Ireland be done in 2 Days?

Say around 20th - 21 June (the longest day)





Perhaps & Perhaps Not .....just playing with the idea at the moment .. not quite a cunning Plan... Yet!

Main roads nearest the coast, or the absolute coast route?

If the later, it would take you several days to do, so I doubt if you could manage it all in only two days as your average speed on coastal boreens would be too slow.

I'd say using the main roads nearest the coast would be the best choice; as I would only have 2 days

The "nearest the coast" route is just under 2600 miles, which given some of the roads involved could take six or seven days.

You had better start work on getting an extension on that pass.

Why on earth would you want to ?

Some of the nicest roads in Europe with some of the nicest views and scenery and you'd like to charge around it in two days, not able to see anything, do anything, photograph anything?

Unless they're for a big charity event with the focus purely on making as much money for the charidee mate as possible by achieving something impressive, I've never understood this sort of riding

... EWS (east to west to south)3/4 way round...

I'm just out for the RIDE and the challenge,

....I enjoy sharing the touring with the all the family togeather..


this is just a once a year "me thing" if you can understand that.

Half Lap Possible...

Last September I managed the half lap sticking as close to the coast as possible - clockwise from Dublin to Galway. Fantastic trip - left after work Friday evening - hit Galway Monday lunchtime. Average speed was way down on the boreens in west Cork. Will upload the GPS route sectors if I can figure out how. Planning the top half this summer. I reckon the full run around the coast is a six day trip!
