OK then...I've not been out for a while and have a good excuse in the guise of an upgrade in transport that needs some miles on it. if you fancy an autumn bimble and are up for coming along for the ride a lap of the lakes this Saturday (17th October)with a stop off get your name down.

The route that is proposed is a clockwise lap of the lakes taking in some (most) of the lakeland passes with a stop off for a pint or two Saturday night in the Keswick area, either camping or B&B (for the softies). Setting off Sunday after breakfast for the remainder of the lakes then heading south home via a trip into the dales and through the trough of Bowland then heading home (possibly the obligatory cup of tea at Devils bridge)

If you would like to come along this is an open invite ride out...

Links for the proposed digs for the Saturday night are below, and I'll assume that if you are coming you'll make arrangements for B&B directly as I'll be camping and reservations for the site aren't necessary - the Royal oak as well as a pub is a good pub that does decent food and has a good selection of ales and the campsite (scotgate) is 100yds away

I propose that we meet at Haydock Island, Jct 23 of the M6/A580 junction 9amto ensure that we can have a full days riding with enough stop offs for photos etc...

Ok just booked the hotel,I might be wrong but I would not count on MR K I think that was a dig at me:thedummyrather than intrest in the ride out,But like I say I might be wrong?
 
Found this campsite near Braithwaite & pub, they don't have any problems with bikers, whereas Castlerigg are a bit funny with us on two wheels. Site is a 10minute walk from the pub, same distance as Scottgate, as at Scottgate they put bikers in the overspill site on the other side of the A66....

Just had confirmation that the lads who were B&B'ing are now camping :clap:clap - so we are fine for any campsite, as long as its near the pub :beerjug::beerjug:
 
Hi Doc, thanks for the PM. I'm working nights tonight so I won't be around for any role call. I'll pop back in here tomorrow morning & confirm my intentions, I need to clear a few things in work first before I can confirm to a weekend away.
Weather looks to be pefect for a late summer weekend. :cool:

Stevie mentioned Castlerigg are a bit funny with us on two wheels but I had no problems there earlier this year. There are 2 Castlerigg sites, 1 is a farm & 1 is a hall. On a recent camping trip to The Highlands I called in & although the farm was fully booked the hall let me in OK on my bike. There is a small ''small'' pub just outside the hall campsite & there's a site shop which stocks some superb local bottled ales.

Castlerigg can be funny. I queued up behind a Swiss couple who wanted to camp for the night. It was just the two of them and they had a car and a small tent. They were turned away and told the site was full. When it was my turn I said not much point in me queuing eh? And they said no they had room. :confused: I said but you just turned the Swiss couple away? They said they didn't want to faff around with the language barrier. I got a pitch but considering the widespread European heritage in my own family I took a dim view of this attitude and haven't been back since.

It has a great view but another thing I don't like is camping on a fecking slope. :roll . You spend all night rolling down the hill. :blast
