LARGER DIGITAL SPEEDO

My take on the problem (using same unit as fred_ jb ) of the massive amounts of glare from the dials and illegibilty of the speedometer numbering on my 2014 GSA, this was just to see if it would work in this position and have little or no glare.

At the moment it consists of a couple of old GoPro mounts, as it seems to be fine I will leave the GoPro sticky pad and mount on the rear of the GPS speedo and make up an alloy mount that picks up on the rear of the BMW GPS mount.

I will also sort out a much shorter and waterproof USB lead and find some way of waterproofing the GPS Speedo whilst keeping it legible.

Neil, I haven't got round to fitting mine yet. If you lay it flat and use as maker intended what is the result on the bike's screen?

I haven't tried it on the bike, but I have a similar device in my car which I do use in HUD reflective mode, and find the image is readable but a bit blurry, mainly due to double reflections off the inner and outer surfaces of the windscreen. These things come with a reflective stick-on film sheet to put on the screen to improve the reflection, but I didn't really want that in my line of view. The only real advantage of HUD mode is that you can position the reflection so that you have minimal movement of your eyes to check your speed.

The one I have on the bike I haven't even tried to use in HUD mode because I think the shape of the screen, plus double reflections, would make the image distorted, and the fact that the screen is adjustable would make it hard to position a reflective sheet effectively. Given the experience with the car I think the direct view mode is much brighter and clearer and on the bike can be positioned to be significantly closer to a normal line of sight than the bike's speedo, and the digits are so big that only a very quick glance is required, so that is good enough for me.

If you manage to get yours positioned in such a way as to get a good HUD image, then it would be interesting to see a photo of it.

Thanks for that
