High rollers in cheap shorts and t shirts??!!

Think I probably saw it at its best back in 1981 much smaller then, everybody was there just to have a good time mainly young blokes of the oil rigs who where earning big money and just wanted a great time.
Not many so many grockles about in them days. Just gamblers.

I accompanied wifey to a convention for work about 10 years ago so only had to pay for my plane ticket, we stayed in Caesars Palace

The hotels are worth seeing, tacky yes, but nonetheless impressive

Fremont is dodgy as feck , there’s grannys in bikinis and you can kick a guy in the bollocks for a few dollars if that’s your thing :nenau

We did rent an Electra Glide and rode out to the Hoover dam and the valley of fire so that was good 👍

It’s one of those places I’m glad to have seen once in my life but would not go back, and I’m pleased most of it was buckshee, same can be said for Dubai which we visited for another convention

Been 3 times, took my son for a break last year. Stayed in the Venetian, Vegas has changed. Won't go again.

Did a free fall jump over the Nevada desert, that was brilliant and made the trip. Jumping in a T shirt was a great experience compared to jumping in the UK :) My son also did a tandem jump, his first time, loved it. I no longer have a licence (too old), but still enjoy tandem jumps.

Was booked to go to Nashville last June, but cancelled. Not going anywhere near the US whilst Trump is in power. Great nation ruined IMHO

We flew into and out of Las Vegas and had a night there at either end of our driving holiday. Utah was fabulous The Grand Canyon was spectacular. Vegas was awful. Never again.

Our flight to Honolulu was at 8am. They didn't start breakfast at our hotel (Cosmopolitan) until 10am. A 6 hour flight and we flew hungry.

Never been to the States.
Always wanted to go but for most of my life i could never afford it.

Reading this thread, i think i will give it a miss now i can.

The US is a big and very varied place, there is plenty to see other than Vegas

I love the US but as others have mentioned don’t think I’ll be going again whilst the orange imbecile is in power

Been to Nashville a couple of times and we really liked the place and would return, as long as it is part of a general road trip in the South and not for a long stay. Called in at Vegas a few times when touring the West Coast. Donny Osmond was great (did I really say that?).

Never particularly interested in visiting the USA, although a few years ago thought it would be good to stop over in New Orleans for four nights on the way to the Caribbean. That's when my teenage past caught up with me, delaying my visa for three or four months...

Never did go.

Went to Vegas a few years ago, it snowed

Just got back from Nashville, if you like music it really is a must see place. As Rogerstan says as part of a road trip it is great.

Lived in US back in the early 2000’s. (1999-2003). Travelled extensively. Commuted between Orange County to Houston and New Orleans in the last year.
Have riden the west coast extensively in more recent years 2017/18/19 and 2022. There is a lot to the US and the west coast riding is amazing in my opinion.
Would I go back to live? Absolutely not but a visit now and again is fine. I still go back every year on business but to the east coast. Virginia.
Vegas is a shithole in my opinion and have zero interest to return.

Went once with a local colleague. He took me to the best strip joint there. Paid $50 to the door staff and we got a seat right by the stage. Women were stunning and draped themselves all over us. I found it probably the most uncomfortable thing ever. Having all that bare flesh and not being able to do anything except shove dollar bills into their bikinis.

I got married in Las Vegas in 1993, in the Little Chapel on the strip, a wooden "church" sat between the hotels.

Went back a few years later on "business". It is great in small doses.

Nashville is excellent - I would definitely like to go back. I spend a bit of time in the States for work (was there last week) and like every country there are places that are great and others not so much. There are hidden gems that are so far off the tourist track that most people would never consider visiting (Wichita is a prime example). There are also places that were once great (San Francisco) that are now ruined by drugs.

Trump is a buffoon but most Americans are decent. His support is mainly blue-collar, where his policies ahve been extremely favourable (manufacturing).

I would be pretty disapointed if my country was judged by people's opinion of Burnham, Reeves and Miliband.

Did 5 night vegas 5 night new york 4 years ago
Both places I wanted to see
Enjoyed them both
Got to see all I wanted
Grand canyon
Hoover dam
Went to a shooting alley place

Wouldn't want to visit vegas again
Would do NY but make it a 4 nighter

Planning a fly drive nashville to new Orleans in the next couple of years....in a car
Again, places I want see

It used to be great. Gamble and get everything else on the cheap. Not any more. MBA types slapped a charge on everything and ramped up prices across the board.

All changed for the worse and I don’t enjoy going any more. It’s always been for work and I’ve been about 15 times. It’s a shame to see it alter and worsen over time.

But it’s the same in many places. Venice and Porto 25 years ago were beautiful. Now every street has a shitty little Bangla shop with leering, jabbering staff selling utter shite that no one wants.

The British high street has a similar malaise. Vape shops, nail bars, off licences, charity shops, bookies and low grade fast food takeaways are everywhere. Awful and degrading everywhere they spring up.

And no one with any power has the balls to fix any of this. From that twat Burnham down to the staff in your local council. All of them, largely inept and utterly ineffective.
Soooo, ya Audiology appointment didn't go well then ,,🤔

:D

That happened to me in Prague. By accident of course!

My brother visited America many times, with work, and a car salesman I talked to from America both told me America is great, the people not so much.
Which is why I mostly spend time in Scotland amongst wonderful people........mostly! :D

Vegas is truly a dump but a great place to fly in and out of to explore Utah and beyond .
I normally head up to Boulder for brek at the South West diner
