Laser exhaust re-packing??

Hi all,
the laser race can on my 1100 is starting to sound like a mesherschmitt ME109.....according to my mate who was trying to chase me on his Ducati
Does anyone know or has anyone ever drilled the rivets out of a Laser, stripped it down and re-packed it? Don't want to take it apart if its not packable, have they got wire wool ala remus or just the loft insualtion type stuff in them?
Hope someone can help, but if not i'll tackle it and take some pics etc in case anyone ever does want to do it!!
