What do these exhausts replace, just the can or the catalyst as well?

Where is the catalyst on the 12GS? (I'm guessing it is under the engine as it gets very hot here, but the box is much smaller than the one on the 1150GS

What is that funny shaped thingy just in front of the can?

does this can sound nice and loud with the sports baffle in?

How does it compare to the Remus offerings?

Does it work even better with 98 octane and should we wait for the old 104 octane to come back.

Just my humour Russ.

Hey AB,

What an example of British understatement.

The whole lot are probably useless no matter how many pictures are posted.
Is it me, or is this site populated by folks trying to sell overpriced and essentially inefficient stuff to good hearted enthusiasts who have little basis to judge??????

I saw in Bike magazine this month that to gain 4 bhp on a GS12 it cost GBP 275 per bhp and the noise exceeded legal levels. For sure they only include this foolishnes as they carry the advertising. Not much different I suppose. But would we not find a GBP 27500 standard GS12 with 100bhp expensive??

The US internet is rather more transparent. How and why can they be so open when we find it so difficult to serve the consumer.
Seems that being two hours east of GMT helps somehow. Some tricky guys live over there. But I prefer the open US approach.
( wonder how long before this gets pulled)

The Laser DuoTec only replaces the silencer so you get a Stainless steel silencer & link pipe. The Cat is just after the header pipes join under the engine. The R1500GS cat box contained a mechanical baffel the R1200GS only uses the silencer
to silence the bike.

We ran a R1200GS on a Dyno. Standard can, then the Laser DuoTec with the road legal baffel in it. The curve followed the standard curve with a slight increase at 4000 rpm ie where the noise test is done. We then change to the stright through baffel no real differance in the curve just a lot more noise.

As regards comparing Laser DuoTec to Remus. The DuoTec is manufactured from Stainless steel throught out & is a double lined can so the outer surface is insulated from the inner can by a fiberglass layer so preventing the can turning blue from the heat. In all DuoTec is a quality made product.

Sorry to be a pest...but

What kind of warranty is on the alloy can against it turning to s*** over the winter (i've always bought titanium after my last alloy can went misty and speckley after a few weeks! Arguably it was a Micron, and yes Micron were as useful as a chocolate teapot and equally unhelpful)

Would you say the Laser is louder than the Remus (without baffle)...:D:D

Thank you :)

(PS is the standard can on the GS alloy?)

Sportmoto wholesaled through the official BMW dealer net work the Laser range of BMW exhausts, & thats all we focused on. So in offering these cans on the UKGSER site It is a real sale ie you would have paid £275.95 Inc Vat for a stainless can you now pay £190.00 Inc Vat while I still have some

Laser Exhaust

Read a bit about exhausts earlier so I thought I'd let you have my five penn'arth.

Well I bought one of the Laser Titanium ones from SpotrMoto - and it seems fine. Its a bit smaller than the stock item and it felt a bit lighter. Personally I think it looks a bit better than the sparkly thing fitted as standard.

I don't notice any performance increase - but I just wanted it for a 'better' sound - which is of course is also down to personal choice anyway.

Easy to fit just the end can - a moments worry when the bike hunts all over the place afterwards - but I guess thats just the electronic trickery trying to work out what the bloddy hell has happened to its breathing.

1500 Miles now since the end of November - bike runs fine after the initial gremlins. Corbin seat on order 'cause it looks good and I'm a tart.

Be careful out there.

Merry Xmas
