Last model 1150abs as crap as site indicates?

when the police pans used to come up at auctions, they fetched good money .
Now ex-police pans fetch crap money at auctions compared to BMW's -

but the pans have higher mileages than the bm's -

wonder if they sell the BM's off at lower mileages before they start to cost money repairing them ? .

I ride for the Met, mostly in central London and our department had a fleet of Pans which have now been replaced bar one for R1150RT's. I have to say that they are suffering massively in the reliability department compared to the pans. However this wont stop me buying my new GS12 in March because I think the reliability problems are probably due to poor servicing and faulty auxiliary equipment which is done by our in house company (which I'd better not name.) On the positive side they are rock solid even flat out, whereas the pans had a terrible weave, they handle well for such a big bike and the brakes are awesome. On the other hand I would LOVE a fleet of GS's instead.

On a different department I rode a marked F650GS great fun in central London but not enough go for any outer roads.

4 years 6 sets of tyres bvm serviced & thrashed every day. Don't clean it just ride the fecking thing. Only problem is rider brain fade

A friend of mine had an 1100 Pan for 4 years and it never went wrong. He got the 1300 Pan last year (03) and has had 5 warranty claims and is exceedingly disappointed in it (he wants to get a GS). Read the VFR site for problems on the new V-Tech version. I had two VFRs (pre V-Tech) and loved 'em and they never went wrong so I'm not biased against Hondas. It's just that no brand is perfect. And, incidentally, the Met police use R1150RSs (unmarked) for certain (somewhat secret) duties.

Happy New Year to all.

03 GS

21,000 miles now. Minor corrosion fork brace replaced under warranty. Pivot bearing needed adjustment at 18000 service.

No problems, best bike I've ever had :D

With regard to Police forces, the Pan is in use here.

More interestingly though most of the cops I'm aware of who ride the Pans at work, personally own GSs and RTs

My June '03 model R1150GS has ABS, twin spark heads and the servo linked brakes.

10,500 miles up so far and no problems.

I do hope those words don't come back to haunt me !
