Nice day today so thought I would have a few hours on my GSA, failed battery had other ideas though, bike only 6 months old too, bugger

That's frustrating, it's been great day today to be out on the bike. There's something about late autumn rides when the sun's out. I'll probably look to get one or two rides in, then I'm done (well, apart from the odd crispy winter's day, if I catch one).

Yes but op says bike only 6 months old. I was assuming brand new 6 months ago in which case shouldn’t happen. If used bike then fair play

Bike registered April 17, the battery (a Yuasa) has Aug 16 on it, due to other commitments (and shite weather) not been started for 4 weeks, BMW assist were with me within 40 minutes, which is pretty good, jump started bike, we left it running a while, then he tested battery and meter said it was goosed.
Ps, I've put 4,500 miles on it in 6 months, including a tour of the French Alps (amazing place), that is my usual summer mileage

No such thing. Buy some heated gear, ACF 50/Scotoil FS 365 your bike, ride all year.

Heated gear!!!! , battery fooked after 1 summer ffs, everyone to their own, below 8 degrees and I stops in, good luck to all you all year bikers, not for me tho, besides, when you work away Mon-Fri, the family has to see me sometime,

Nope, last ride of the season is usually around late February when black ice stops us going out.

You can have 'black ice' anytime between December and March ....
No finer way of fooking a battery than draining it.
I've searched through some diaries and almanacs, there's references to seasons for hunting and fishing, spring, summer, autumn and winter etc; I can't find a reference to 'the riding season'.

GS season - Is it not defined by the state of the local Tesco/Morrisons/ Aldi car park for GS riders?
Personally, I am in the "riding season" denying group. Cover the bike and oneself in ACF50 and heated stuff of choice and ride
