I have a lat/long for a campsite south of Madrid that I hope to use next Mon.

Question is, how do I get the lat/long into my 2610???

Thanks

Phil,

I'm no authority, so I expect there's a simple way.

In the absence of such, here's how I'd do it.

Light up Mapsource on the PC, put the waypoint tool cursor over the approximate area until the Lat & Long on the lower screen matches the co-ordinates that you have and then Waypoint it and transfer to the device.

Someone will no doubt tell you the proper way soon.

Good to see you at the weekend, next time I'll bring a Devon flag to counter the 'Corneese' one flown over your camp! ;)

mapsource

Cheers Mike, I thought it must be easy but I just couldn't sort it!

Yes bring a flag but did you see the blow up sheep. My mate gets lonely!!!

Mark a waypouint anywhere on the map. Rename it to whatever you want and alter the lat/long to the ones you have and click on OK.

Done :thumb

As Whatton says...

Just press the 'mark' button and create a waypoint, rename it to whatever you want, click 'OK' ... highlight the co-ordinates and alter them to the info you have, click 'OK' ... sorted :thumb

Cheers guys, I don't know exactly how I did it but it's now on gps.

Many thanks

There has been a recent (within the last month) software update for the 28xx and BMW Nav III that allows the user to enter a lat/long coordinate directly into the GPSR. This is the same update that also allows the user to change the grid system used (e.g. WGS 84 to Maidenhead, etc.) and change the formatting of lat/long.

I kind of suspect that this new capability will filter back to the older units, because it is a simple feature to support. So, perhaps check to see if you have the latest software update.

In the meantime, the easiest way I know of directly entering a lat/long is to launch MapSource, create a waypoint (any waypoint, anywhere), then change the lat/long manually in the 'Waypoint Properties' box so it reflects the location you want to specify. Then rename the waypoint appropriately, and finally, save the file and upload the waypoint to your GPSR.

Co-ordinates

I've just yesterday updated the software on my 2720 at the Garmin site, and now have the option to enter co-ordinates directly.
Just go to "My locations" and there is a function "co-ordinates" where you can either enter directly or scroll with the map.
This may be available for the 2610 too, hope this helps.
